Fact check: Republican challenger attacks Sen. Thom Tillis’ immigration policies

Immigration policy is sure to be a top issue in North Carolina’s 2020 Republican primary for U.S. Senate. For Garland Tucker III, it is part of the reason why he is challenging incumbent Sen. Thom Tillis.

When Tucker appeared on The Sean Hannity Show May 8 to announce his campaign for Tillis’ seat in 2020, he said he was most concerned with Tillis’ “weak” immigration policies.

“He co-sponsored a bill that not only provided amnesty, but provided a clear path to citizenship for illegal immigrants,” Tucker said on the radio show.

PolitiFact reached out to Tucker’s campaign to ask what he meant. Carter Wrenn, spokesman for Tucker, said Tucker was referring to the 2017 “Solution for Undocumented Children through Careers, Employment, and Defending our Nation,” or Succeed Act.

As it turns out, the Succeed Act would only pertain to people who were brought to the country illegally as minors. They are sometimes known as DREAMers, a term derived from the Dream Act, a legislative bill that was first introduced in Congress in 2001 but never passed. It’s an increasingly vocal group of young people who argue that after being raised and educated in the U.S., they have nowhere else to call home.

Tillis sponsored the legislation as a more GOP-friendly immigration solution for that group of immigrants, as compared to the bipartisan Dream Act or President Obama’s DACA policy. Tillis’ bill did not pass the Senate.

The Tillis campaign said the Succeed Act was introduced as part of a larger plan to reach a compromise on border security. When the bill was introduced, Tillis and another sponsor, Republican Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma stressed that the bill should not be passed if it was not paired with a solution for the border.

Sorry media, but any DREAM act is an amnesty. They get forgiven and get to stay.

Tillis IS weak on immigration.

While raising import tariffs may give Mexico second thoughts about its immigration policies this policy would halt the invasion

In the hundreds of postings here in Free Republic rarely is this brought up. It’s Known As Reciprocity. We should be treating anybody illegally crossing the Mexican border into the US the way the Mexican’s do;

Any American illegally .crossing into Mexico. Before being kicked out can get a heavy fine and possible imprisonment.

It’s time we consider illegal entry by any person who is a non Mexican citizen illegally entering the United States through the US Mexican border a defacto Mexican citizen with limited Mexican constitutional rights subject to their laws while transiting. As well as any Mexican citizen entering illegally exempting those who do so legally.

According to the Mexican constitution Americans legally in Mexico get a 2nd class treatment. Besides being unable to vote one must also be a citizen to own land and Mexico is very restrictive about granting citizenship. Because of that a US citizen besides not being able to vote,and cannot have title in their name to any land property in Mexico. It’s time the US should consider making that reciprocal.

North Carolina hasn't had a conservative senator since Jesse Helms. Tillis is a phony, and an open borders fan.

Immigration is the hill to die on.

Fire him, primary him, there is no upside to keeping him.

Has Garland Tucker III been properly vetted for the social media age?

Where are his high school and college yearbook photos?

Tillis was going to vote against POTUS declaring a national emergency at the border until voters contacted him and he changed his mind at the last min. He’s a rino and a traitor to the people of NC. VOTE HIM OUT.

“North Carolina hasn’t had a conservative senator since Jesse Helms. Tillis is a phony, and an open borders fan.”

Don’t leave out Richard “Aaron” Burr too. North Carolina has what I call the “Two Feckless Turds” filling their Senate Seats. Being from California, I expect to have the likes of Fineswine, and Cameltoe “Hinges on Her Heels” Harris. But one would think that North Carolina could manage to give us something that’s a whole lot better. It would be interesting to hear from Freepers in NC and have them tell us why they voted for this pair, if they did, and why.

Let’s see how well it stacks up against The List.

The list goes like this -
1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population)
7) demonstrate English proficiency to acquire citizenship and pass civics test.

Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport.

Also consider reciprocation of the laws of the countries of origin of the illegal aliens. For example, Mexico doesn’t allow land ownership or voting to immigrants, and doesn’t honor birthright citizenship like its citizens expect from the U.S. We should offer the same deal to them.

Anybody who’s pissed off that the Senate is “stabbing Trump in the back”: THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY. Defeat the RINOs in the primary. DO NOT turn the Senate over to the demonicRATs.
