The Chinese steal everything from us, so why wouldn’t their new destroyer be one of the world’s best? China is 10x the threat to us that Russia is.

Pretty looking ship, gotta give them that. Steal from the best. For some reason it looks more British than American to my uneducated eyes.

to be clear, there were precisely two "experts" cited in this bullsnit story. one was chinese. the other was anonymous.
a more accurate headline would have been: Chinas new Type 055 destroyer among best in the world: Fairy Tale

China steals technology then reverse engineers it.
They have been doing that with oilfield equipment for years.
But they never get it right. Lots of mechanical failures.
Bet the same applies here.

Agree same reason I don’t get rail guns. Huge amount of Capital outlay and Ship must still get within range of ASMs before you can fire the Rail gun.

The Chinese have a major base problem, which is why they have never been a successful maritime nation. Perhaps. But once upon a time their fleets sailed as far as what would some day be called the Cape of Good Hope. Chinese bureaucracy feared the cultural impacts of strange peoples and goods, and banned shipbuilding.
The baoshan treasure ships fell into disuse and were ultimate forgotten. To this day the elimination of this incipient world trade remains bureaucracy's most stunning achievement.

Agreed. Notice the phased-array radar panels.
The Chicoms did NOT develop that on their own.

The finest technology theft from the USA can produce.
My first thought as well.
And funded by tariff-free crap purchased at US Walmarts.

I was in Walmart the other day, and somebody had placed stickers on the pants I was looking at that said Proceeds from the sale of this item will be used to incinerate your children

2000 miles away?Lets say the missile flies at mach 3 ~ 2,000 mph. So do you think with an hour warning they would be able to mount a defense?

Tomahawk missiles can fly under radar and are not detectable until almost on top of the target. Some of the newer ones employ stealth technology.
To: billyboy15
You said 2,000 miles away. So now you are changing that fact. A subsonic Tomahawks has a range of about 80 nm. So is this the new criteria?
