You’re reading more into my comment than I meant to imply. My point is “treason” is widely used, by both right and left, without any regard to its constitutional elements.
My understanding is that treason is a wartime offense, whereas sedition is a peacetime one.
Perhaps a constitutional scholar would view it differently, though.
