How the heck did they get mortgages for the houses? Nobody ever asks how a dead broke couple departing the White House had such luxurious homes waiting for them.
I know they have made millions in the years after the White House, but at the time they acquired these properties, they supposedly didn’t have any money.

You forget that their friends like Terry McAwful stepped up to handle those minor items like financing a couple o f million dollar mansions.

They also bought the Chappaqua next door neighbor’s mansion for $1.16 million just three years ago and promptly filled in the pool and installed security. Yep, dirt poor.
