Well then BuShips can get off their asses and design them now. Nothing stopping them. This is an embarrassment.

BuShips will not be able to make a design in the timeframe required for the ships we need literally yesterday. They certainly would y be able to work out the bugs for a lot longer than that. BuShips couldn’t get it done in less than a decade and we can’t fight China, their proxies or the people buying gear from the Chinese/Russians/French with floating ‘IOUs’ from BuShips.

The specialization of the Type 26 may be a problem - these are supposed to be anti-air specialist frigates with ASW a distinct and distant second.

The problem with your assertion that ‘by the time you build one the production U.K. one will have been in service and had the bugs fixed - how long has the Type 45 been in service? And it still doesn’t have the power plant problems fixed?
