Senate Republicans are facing a potential intraparty brawl as they fight to hold onto the chamber next year.
Republicans are defending 22 seats in 2020, mostly in deep-red states, limiting Democrats’ pickup opportunities and increasing the odds of the GOP keeping the Senate.
But nasty primary fights brewing in a handful of key states could threaten to throw a curveball into the Republican strategy, potentially setting the party up for a repeat of previous cycles when conservatives caused headaches by defeating more-mainstream GOP candidates, only to lose to Democrats in November.
Three races have jumped into the spotlight as looming problem areas for Republicans: In Alabama and Kansas, where conservatives Roy Moore and Kris Kobach are flirting with Senate bids, and in North Carolina, where Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C) is viewed as vulnerable to a primary challenge.
“There are still Republicans … who are upset that we gave away Senate seats in Nevada, Missouri and Indiana that were right there for the taking,” said Doug Heye, a former Republican National Committee spokesman. “So I think folks here [in Washington] are very mindful of that.”

Amen. Kobach spends his time on immigration which while a noble cause did not set him up well for a governatorial run in Kansas. He did well as Secretary of State but he seemed to run a horrible campaign. Jeff Colyer would have won the general had Kobach not played spoiler in the primary. As for the senate race a lot of people might enter the race. Potentially like Milton Wolf, Lynn Jenkins, Matt Schlaap, Roger Marshall, Todd Tiahrt, Ron Estes, Derek Schmdit and more. Only Mike Pompeo and Ajit Pai have declined to run for Pat Roberts old seat. Kobach is not even being floated around yet. Some are just tossing his name out like the person who wrote this article.

There is no doubt that some of the conservative challengers have been less than stellar candidates. However, the same can be said of a lot of the squish moderate incumbents.
While some of the conservative challengers have lost their races all on their own, many have been done in by Dim dirty tricks and leftist journalistic fake news/lies (”he groped me 38 years ago and I am still traumatized; I just forgot to report it at the time”), and/or by the Repuke establishment knifing them in the back by actively and openly opposing them or working to defeat them in the general elections behind the scenes.

I still think Doug Jones is a dead man walking in Alabama no matter who the Republicans nominate. He promised that he would represent Alabama and would not simply be a rubber stamp for Chuck Schumer. Then he gets to Washington and immediately becomes a rubber stamp for Chuck Schumer. He can’t sell that to the folks back home. Nobody is going to trust him again.
I hope you’re right because my gut tells me that the Mooreristas are going to give us Moore again. I hope my gut is wrong but if it’s not it could be a nail-biter we don’t need. I do hope Moore wins if he’s the nominee. And I hope he becomes the asset his supporters think he will be. I am skeptical! Anyway not my state so not my circus so choose well Alabama!

That is exactly what they are doing, waiting him out and if he loses they are content. If he wins they wait until 2024 and trot out another Bush clone, they get their asses kicked hard and blame conservatives again. They win a branch of congress back and think they are loved again, except what is the alternative, going off a cliff at 120mph or 100mph. The GOP won’t change, all they care about is money. I would say power but they are too damned stupid and cowardly to know how to use it when they have it.
