President Trump never revoked former CIA Director John Brennan's security clearance.
The president announced in August that Brennan's security clearance was being stripped due to "erratic behavior" that disqualified him from having access to sensitive information.
But the White House never followed through with the complicated bureaucratic process of revocation, a source told the New York Times.

Some can have their access revoked, while they still maintain their clearance on paper.
Formally revoking the clearance is kind of a disciplinary action - something that has to be done for cause, and can be appealed - like reducing someone’s rank.
Cutting off their access (especially to higher classification levels/compartments) is a much simpler administrative/operational procedure. Once they leave their position, they no longer have a need to know - read them out, cancel their account, take back the keys, change the combinations - just like they do to regular employees who leave. Allowing continued access to classified systems and information is a perk afforded to top people. The President can revoke that with a verbal command.

this needs to be cleared up fast and, if Brennan hasn’t lost his clearance, it should be taken away now.
AND, anybody guilty of subsequent dissemination of restricted data is guilty of a security breach and THEIR clearance is pulled until the matter is resolved.
As long as Bennan and MSNBC believe he's lost his security clearance, that's all that matters.
Maybe the NYT made it all up to stir the pot. Who knows, but we should get some kind of confirmation or rebuttal elsewhere soon.
If this is not true, the administration needs to send someone forth asap to say so.

Glad to see someone post this. I saw the same or similar explanation at the time this was news. Maybe you posted that too. Having a security clearance doesn’t mean you have access to anything.
At least they know where to look when they need a 'worst case' for comparison. lol

Maybe they PURPOSELY did not revoke it, making Brennan think they thought it had been. So he would make some stupid mistake and leak a fake document to one of his contacts, and be caught in a felony trap.
It was a big deal in the fascist mob media, when Brennan had his clearance revoked.
Regardless, Brennan (as with the entire DNC), is a true principled enemy of everything our Constitutional Republic and liberty is built on.
It is off subject a bit, but related to Iran, if Brennan spoke of or communicated any highly classified material in his most recent “closed door” meeting with the DNC, and any of them or their staff members were not “read in” to any portion of the material he discussed with them related to Iran (as a couple of people have relayed to me), this would be another illegal massive national security “event”.
We already know a number of left wing legilators and people like Kerry and even Oba have been traveling the world meeting with foreign leaders to counter the current administration and US posture.

NYT/Fake News likelihood is high, but for those who are wringing their hands over this, Brennan's legal access to classified info ended when he left his last government position. Even if his clearance had been renewed shortly before he was shown the door and had years left before expiration, his "Need to Know" evaporated at the end of his last government work day.
Anyone sharing classified information with Brennan after that point did so illegally, just as if he'd never had a security clearance.
I was under the impression that if a security clearance was not renewed, it automatically would lapse.
The #FakeNews media should hang right alongside the traitors.
Or be turned over to angry mobs.
Far more will soon know who did what. They will do what they can to downplay it all but they will cover it when the indictments start to fall.
