There are lots of examples where the display of a weapon de-escalates a situation but people don’t want to report lest they become the criminal and their weapon is confiscated.
What kind of “de-escalation training” do they give their minimum wage employees? Do they train them to cower on the floor begging for their lives? “Please sir, don’t chop my head off! Here, take the money and just go away, I really didn’t notice the scar running down your cheek and the birthmark on your forehead. . . Or that you dyed your hair chartreuse. No sir, I didn’t.”
