Up North we think Jimmy Carter was basically saying "Think of something really Southern -- that’s how Southern I am” and it seems to have worked for him, but in general, if you want to be the first of your group you don't emphasize how typical a member of the group you are.

You are so correct...I keep saying that acceptance, a "who cares?", is not enough for the militant gay movement.
Now, gayness must be celebrated; we are expected to clap our hands and admire the behavior, march in their parades and wish we could be just like them.
Again, it is pathetic that a person's sexuality defines who they are.
