...When my assistant said there was a call from the White House, I picked up, said "Hello" and started to ask if this was a prank (suspecting my friends in the British tabloid media), but the caller spoke politely over me: "Please hold for the president." Two seconds later probably the best-known voice in the world said "Is that the great Lord Black?" I said "Mr. President, you do me great honour telephoning me."
He could not have been more gracious and quickly got to his point: he was granting me a full pardon that would "Expunge the bad wrap you got." He had followed the case closely and offered to come to give evidence at my trial in Chicago in 2007 on one of the counts (I was acquitted of that one). He said that there would be some controversy, "But you can handle that better than anyone." I asked "Do you authorize me to say that your motivation is that it was an unjust verdict?" He checked with the White House counsel, Pat Cipollone, who was in the room, if this would be a problem legally, and was told and affirmed to me that I could say that was his motive and that he was reversing an unjust verdict.
...My long ordeal with the U.S. justice system was never anything but a confluence of unlucky events, the belligerence of several corporate governance charlatans, and grandstanding local and American judges, all fanned by an unusually frenzied international media showing exceptional interest in the case because I was a media owner.

'The popular argument against Black amounts to, he is a slimy rich guy and deserves whatever he gets. But the facts speak to a weak case that was pursued out of envy and for the benefit of ambitious prosecutors. He should have been left alone.'
it is encouraging that PDJT can even find the time to fix something for just one person, and that from years and years ago.
PDJT sure isn’t letting the dam*ed loud-mouthed Ahole jerks in Congress bother him much, or take up much of his time..... HA!
This is a very good sign!
Earlier thread on this story. I posted several links with some history / commentary on the prosecution.

No problem, yours wasnt a repost. Just another post on the same general story, its all good.
Glad to see this, I remembered reading some of Mark Steyns commentary at the time, and thought the prosecution was BS then.
I love this President.

My first time to read thanks
Wow. I love our President. What a story. Aside, Mr. Black is a wonderful writer.
Black is a former Steering Committee member of the Bilderberg Group.
Globalist.
Unaware of that.
Are you implying therefore it was acceptable he be convicted of crimes no one would ever be charged with?

Not much in the titles to find a hit on. Vastly different.
Like
he’s wormy. And No, I’m implied he is a connected member of a group that wants global government and now he has managed to get an elusive Presidential Pardon.
Ramos and Campion are still convicted felons, and many other good men like them. But they aren’t Bilderburg globalist plutocrats swimming in the right circles.
For that matter, there is also this former General who was railroaded, his name is Flynn. He is a convicted felon.
This guy Black just had the right connections. His lawyer is Miguel Estrada...Bushie.
“Black is a former Steering Committee member of the Bilderberg Group.
Globalist”
Perhaps true but has virtually no bearing on the lack of correctness of the action taken against him or the righteous corrective action taken by the President.
Democrats regularly imprison and destroy innocent people for the slightest political gain.
Democrats are evil scum.
Black is no neo-marxist liberal and controlled a huge media empire.
Gee, wonder why they targeted him for spurious crimes.
BTW ...
The Chicago prosecutor who hounded Conrad Black, Patrick Fitzgerald,
is now James Comey’s lawyer.
Hmmm hmmm hmmm
Neo-marxist liberal?
He dared to challenge Canada’s bleeding-heart PM, Jean Chretien, and had his British knighthood pettily robbed from him because of it ...
He supported Trump when others were piling on ...
If he was a liberal, why was he prosecuted under the Obama regime? Holder could have called off the dogs quite easily.
Bad wrap?
Bad rap. A rare English usage bobble by Conrad Black, even if it is slang.
