Barr assigns US attorney in Connecticut to look into government surveillance involving Trump
Fox News ^ | 05/13/2019 | Gregg Re, Jake Gibson

Attorney General William Barr has appointed a U.S. attorney to examine the origins of the Russia investigation and determine if intelligence collection efforts targeting the Trump campaign were "lawful and appropriate," a person familiar with the situation told Fox News on Monday evening.

John Durham, the U.S. attorney in Connecticut, will conduct the inquiry, the source said. The move comes as the Trump administration has pushed for answers on why federal authorities conducted the surveillance -- as well as whether Democrats were the ones who improperly colluded with foreign actors.

Two sources told Fox News earlier today that Barr was “serious” and had assigned DOJ personnel to the probe. Durham is known as a "hard-charging, bulldog" prosecutor, Fox News is told.

What ever happened to Huber? Is he still alive? Is he in a nursing home?

He "worked on it" for a couple months, then billed Sessions' office for the first $20 million. He then spent 7 months shopping for an estate on the beach in the Bahamas.

He then billed another $10 million, and bought this beautiful sailboat (he named it "Cool Coup".

Eventually he'll send in his "report" (along with a final bill).

I suspect his report will illustrate how heroic the Obama admin was in their efforts to stop Putin's hand-picked stooge, Donald Trump. His book will appear on Amazon the following week, and the NYT has promised to put it on the top ten list the following week.

Democracy without the rule of law is mob rule.

Our representative democracy is utterly dependent on a general acceptance of the principle that we are government of laws and not a government of sophists. The rule of law implies checks on the rule of the mob by resort to constitutional and legal principle. When society ceases to have confidence that the game is being played straight, it abandons its commitment to fairness and splinters into factions seeking raw power.

When the director of the FBI speaks to the nation and identifies the crimes of Hillary Clinton up to the very threshold of indictment and then abandons the rule of law, our society inches closer to a government of sophists. When rankly partisan House Committee Democrats unilaterally find the attorney general in contempt on blatantly specious grounds, it becomes obvious that the game is not being played straight.

When the Obama administration in its time, or house Democrats in real time, cease to exercise their powers according to the established norms of law and justice but instead weaponize the rule of law, those who are not Democrats have no choice if they wish to survive but to splinter off and seek enough power to at least survive. The slide into anarchy advances inch by inch.

Society's understanding of fairness is necessarily drawn from what they are told about events by the press. When this intermediary abandons its moral obligation to honor its protection under the First Amendment, society eventually assumes a protective posture of cynicism. The rule of law depends on society having, not cynicism that we are governed by sophists but confidence that there is a real and dependable rule of law protecting them.

Every day as a society we are edging closer to what I felt while in Russia, a universal cynicism that everything was corrupt and that those who behaved honorably were not righteous individuals to be respected but fools who did not get the game.

Your cynicism is not misplaced but quite rational.

Ship of Fools.

These ‘protectors’ live in this huge fear that the public may lose confidence in the FBI and that has to be prevented, at all costs.

Too late. I'm happy to see so many folks finally realizing what a criminal organization the FBI is. It's hard to believe they had any credibility after Ruby Ridge, Richard Jewel, and Waco, and many others but some folks are slow I guess.

Mueller wasn't a straight arrow. That's all I said.

When it comes to trusting government and the DC swamp, skepticism is healthy.

I'm about 50/50 right now whether Barr and Durham will drain the swamp.

That thread mentioned Toensing reprersenting Campbell.

A few months ago Toensing an diGenova mentioned some big news that had been publickly exposed info that was majorly relevant to Huber’s investigation. After a few days, Huber asked for the documents. He was told, “We sent that to you seven months ago.” It was clear he was doing absolutely nothing to investigate.

When I read sessions assignment to Huber it did not mention investigating anything. It only asked for a DOJ review on 3 items.

No one is going to completely drain the swamp.

The best we can hope for is to make a sizeable dent in the process and put the cockroaches on defense.

Mueller was described has a "straight arrow".

Well.. he was to a certain degree.

He found Trump NOT GUILTY of any collusion and has refused to testify in any followup hearings so far.

Not at all. Mueller has a long swampy history.

He found Trump NOT GUILTY of any collusion and has refused to testify in any followup hearings so far.

Mueller won't testify because he is afraid of Nunes. Mueller did Trump no favors with his report and his witch hunt investigation. It wasn't until Trump built enough leverage against Mueller, that he ended the investigation.

Regardless of your opinion, at this point, Muellar and his report are both a "BIG NOTHING BURGER" to Trump.

Regardless of your opinion there are plenty of facts, both past and present, that show Mueller to be a Deep State rat.

And the report didn't do Trump any favors. Trump did nothing wrong. That's why Mueller couldn't find that Trump did something wrong. And as a prosecutor, Mueller should never have released a report that contained hundreds of pages. That's not what investigators are supposed to do.

"The dogs bark but the caravan moves on."

From day it was a baseless investigation, a "witch hunt", that slowed down Trump's presidency.

It appears that I've crossed paths with an individual who has the "rightness disease." - the need to be "right" even where there is no significant point to be made.

The fact that Mueller is a dirty rat is a ‘significant point’ which many people seem to be overlooking.

Funny that this "dirty rat" did little or no damage to Trump.

Don't get focused on the players in the swamp who you KNOW.

Be more cautious of the unknown implants that have been entrenched for years in the old line deep state.
