At a Wednesday hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Attorney General William Barr said his department is reviewing whether the discredited Steele dossier is evidence of a Russian disinformation campaign. Asked about that possibility by Sen. John Cornyn (R–TX) Barr noted he was “concerned about it.”
Cornyn prefaced his inquiry to Barr by noting Christopher Steele’s links to the Clinton campaign in 2016, describing him as “a former British intelligence officer hired to do opposition research by the Hillary Clinton campaign on her political adversaries including President Trump, or candidate Trump at that time.” The Steele dossier was used in 2016 by the FBI to obtain Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants on Carter Page, who had worked previously for the Trump campaign.
“How do we know that the Steele dossier is not itself evidence of Russian disinformation campaign, knowing what we know now, that basically the allegations made therein were secondhand, hearsay, or unverified?” Cornyn asked Barr. “Can we state with confidence that the Steele dossier was not part of the Russian disinformation campaign?”

And then the IG report on FISA abuse will come out and find that no one had any bad intent, the higher-ups who signed it were simply relying on the lower-downs, and the lower-downs were simply relying on Christopher Steele’s sterling reputation from helping round up the FIFA soccer scoundrels!
Look, you can’t prosecute people with no bad intent!
We were all victims, the IG will tell us, of a flawed process! The answer to our problem is that there must be more signatures and certifications and signed certifications and certified signatures in the future!

I don’t really care if the Russians created it. What I care about is bringing to justice the Americans who funded it and promoted it in order to trigger a phony coup.

Yup, this is an attempt to deflect criminal behavior of democrats to russia. What worries me is Barr is promoting this nonsense. If the coup plotters walk free America is finished.
I remember when the dossier became public, an ex-intelligence Russian official now living in the United States said it had all the hallmarks of a KGB document.
I trust Barr. I did not trust sessions.
The democrats made a big mistake in accusing Barr of lying and doing a coverup..
