Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday said Attorney General William Barr committed a crime by lying to lawmakers during his testimony on Capitol Hill.
"What is deadly serious about it is the attorney general of the United States of America was not telling the truth to the Congress of the United States. That's a crime," Pelosi said during a press conference.
Her comments come a day after Barr was grilled by Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee over his handling of special counsel Robert Mueller's report on Russian election interference.
Barr was roundly criticized for his performance during the hearing, which came shortly after reports emerged that Mueller had expressed frustration with Barr's memo summarizing the report's key findings.

They are desperate to stop Barr from doing his job, because, if left to do his job, he will be indicting several members of Congress any day now. Not to mention that he will likely stop their whole agenda to transform America into a third world sh**hole like Venezuela.

This is why staff attorneys were not allowed to participate. It forces Pelosi to personally slander the President, making her vulnerable instead of her staff attorney. I haven’t found the ‘lie’ alleged in any of the articles I’ve read so far.
They are scared out of their wits of how Barr is going to turn the tables on them. They are trying to prevent that by going into full hysterical mode.

That’s my question, also. AG Barr was very factual, forthright and succinct in his responses to questions yesterday. He was choosing his words carefully, and I don’t believe that, when push comes to shove, the Dems will be able to prove any lie in his testimony. I doubt this matters, however.
I guess the Dem’s plan is to continue to push this lie about Barr in order to damage his credibility and justify their contempt charges, etc.... Apparently, anything goes now that they are down to their last resort before the hard truths begin to pour out about the beginnings of the treasonous Russia scheme.
Boy, Pelosi’s Twitter feed is jam-packed with loons who are in complete belief that Barr (and the entire Trump Administration) are a bunch of liars, and are frustrated that the Dem’s haven’t done more on impeachment and contempt actions.

On Wednesday, Attorney General William Barr revealed that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched many investigations into the constant leaks to the media during the Trump-Russia investigation. The DOJ is examining just exactly how mainstream media outlets had scoops on the investigation long before Congress had heard anything about the subject matter.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) asked Barr about the leaks in his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
“The Inspector General found that during the department’s investigation of Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified information, there was a culture of unauthorized media contacts. During the Russian investigation, the leaks continued. Leaks undermine the ability of investigators to investigate,” Grassley argued. “Further leaks to the papers while Congress’s questions to the department go unanswered is unacceptable.”
“What are you doing to investigate unauthorized media contacts by the department and FBI officials during the Russian investigation?” he asked.
“We have multiple criminal leak investigations underway,” Barr responded.
Later in the hearing, Sen. Joe Kennedy (R-La.) suggested Barr extend the probes to special counsel Robert Mueller and his team as well. “When you’re investigating leaks at the Department of Justice and the FBI, I hope you will include the Mueller team as well,” Kennedy said, concluding his remarks.
Last month, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) said he had sent multiple criminal referrals to the Department of Justice, including some related to leaks.
“There are five direct referrals based on lying, obstruction, congressional investigation, and leaking. We have a global leaks referral, which involves just a few reporters but could involve multiple people. I don’t think it’s that many people because I think they probably only have a few sources within these agencies,” Nunes said.
