NYC Vows to Start ‘Phasing Out’ Hot Dogs to Save the Planet as Part of Their Own $14B Green New Deal

Madison Dibble about 2 hours ago

Hot dogs may become harder to find following the approval of New York City’s version of the Green New Deal as local politicians pick of the sword to take on climate change.

On Monday, Mayor Bill de Blasio (D-N.Y.) slapped his signature on his city’s blueprint for combatting climate change. Following in the footsteps of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), the city passed a Green New Deal to mobilize the city’s resources to combat climate change.

Unfortunately for hot dog lovers, the plan includes a goal of eliminating processed meat from all city-owned property.

According to NYC’s Green New Deal, hot dogs must go if New Yorkers want to maintain a “livable climate.” The plan details the city’s goal of “reducing the purchasing of beef and phasing out the purchasing of processed meat” from all city-owned facilities.

Similar to Ocasio-Cortez’s plan to “fully get rid of farting cows,” New York City aims to reduce the need for cows because of their production of the greenhouse gas methane.

Yes, a 1000 mile move is tough. I miss my family in NYC but plan on going back to visit.

Yes, summers are very bad here but fall, winter & spring are beautiful. And, yes, there are tornadoes in AL but most of the lives lost are poor people who, unfortunately, live in mobile homes. It’s why AL has the highest death rate due to tornadoes - mobile homes. You have to have a “safe” room here, which we do. Our house has been here many decades. We are now passing out of tornado season, thank God.

It’s not for everyone but for these two ex-New Yorkers, we love it.

I don't understand this affinity communist governments have for "phasing out" food.

Like all good Communists, they will eventually phase out all food.

California is about to add a “1% tax to every restaurant bill’ to ‘fight climate change’

Here we go folks- states are FORCING people to pay for a problem that isn’t a problem and isn’t even our fault- We knew climate change was nothing but a colossal scam to separate people from their hard earned cash- and now deblasio and california are proving this to be true- The Lying scumbags are stealing our money!

I always marvel at the MANY mobile homes I see in the South. I can't help but think about the aftermath of hurricanes and tornadoes I've seen on TV. I pray everyone in those homes will never experience anything like that.

What exactly is a "safe" room? A room in in the interior of the house, with no windows?

We've been looking at real estate fairly close to the ocean, so of course there are no cellars. We had a tornado scare here in northern Connecticut last May. First thing I did was run to the cellar, as our local TV meteorologist was screaming that a tornado was nearby. We got pelted with hail, but no tornado, thank God. Made me wonder what we'll do in a house with no cellar...

The mafia will soon be running hot dog speakeasys all over the city.

There’s a joke in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird about a Yankee in AL who dares to build a cellar under his home. Tres suspicious! Yes, you have to have an interior room, usually a bathroom, without a window. We use our hallway. It may be whistling past the graveyard but our neighbor has said that where we live has never had a significant tornado. Believe me, it’s not something you think about every day here. There is so much beautiful weather.

First they took Times Square. Now everything else that makes NYC NYC. They are evil.

We rarely venture into NYC anymore. We *used to* take our car everywhere in Manhattan and the boroughs during the Giuliani years, but we've gotten so many expen$ive parking, etc. tickets, it's just useless - and a hassle - to drive there now.

The few times we've been to NYC lately, we take Metro North from New Haven, but that's a long, expensive ride, and - since I'm not fond of the NYC subways - we rarely venture much past Midtown.

BloomingIdiot and of course Comrade De Blasio have really destroyed NYC. At least destroyed the freedom to move around NYC like we once did, anyway.

Hmm... It's been decades since I read To Kill a Mockingbird, I don't remember that Yankee in AL joke, lol. Thanks for the info on the safe room. Good food for thought the next time we are looking at southern real estate... which will probably be in May or June.

Congrats on the big move! You've done what so many of us up here are dreaming of.

Every morning on our local conservative talk radio show (WTIC 1080, Hartford, CT) former CT residents call in, happily reporting from FL, SC, TN, etc. All report they are SO glad they made the move South, and of course they are saving a ton of money. Hopefully that will be us someday. :-)
