Did you happen to notice the ‘Mental Health’ budget? Ten years ago it was $150 million; next year it’s up to $267 million, with a stagnant population.
In another decade every man, woman and child will have their own mental health counselor, probably dispensing legal marijuana to keep them on a steady downslope. We should change our slogan to ‘Racing for the Bottom’.
Don’t live there. Don’t care. It could become an independent country again.

Columbus day has become a “throw away” holiday for most of us. I hadn’t gotten it off since 2003 when I worked at a bank. And even now, they are open.
Italians in our neck of the woods have their parades during the fest days in August. Better weather and better food than October.
The ONLY downside is that my birthday is on the traditional Columbus day—I got it off when I was in school before Nixon changed them all to Mondays.
If the government wants to change the name, I sincerely don’t care. Call it a fall festival day for all I care.
The government does not drive my “holidays.” If my work won’t give me the day off, I can take a vacation day. My religious holidays are mine, not the government.
