The skilled artisans no longer exist to “rebuild” the cathedral. It took generations to build it.

I’m glad I got to see it last summer; I will be surprised if it’s rebuilt in my lifetime. Same here. No matter what rebuild / renovation they do now to the once-beautiful iconic Notre Dame Cathedral, it will *never* be even close to what it once was. :-(
