This case is well beyond the two year Statute of limitations. There is no question that this information has been known for years!! Assange is a national hero for exposing the NSA illegally ( with out warrant) spying on every Americans Email , phone calls and text messages . Wikileaks ,after the first publication by DC LEAKS .com, truthfully exposed the fraudulent campaign practices against Hillary’s political opponent. That is something every American had a right to know.
“The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act has a two year statute of limitations that runs from “the date of the act complained of or the date of the discovery of the damage.” In Higgins, the Plaintiffs claimed that, while they “suspected” some sort of wrongdoing more than two years prior to the filing of their CFAA claim, they did not “actually discover the violations or damage” until later. The court found that “the statute of limitations ‘begins when facts that would support a cause of action are or should be apparent.’” Accordingly, when the Plaintiff suspected that those acts had occurred, those facts should have been apparent for purposes of limitations and limitations began to run at that time.”https://shawnetuma.com/2013/01/04/two-year-statute-of-limitations-of-computer-fraud-and-abuse-act-accrued-when-plaintiff-suspected-wrongdoing/

On a conspiracy charge, I believe the statute of limitations doesn’t begin to run until the last documented underlying crime related to the conspiracy was committed. Also, note that the statute of limitations is tolled (suspended) while the defendant is outside the U.S.
