Lori Loughlin Didn't Believe She'd Face Prison Time, Expected a 'Slap on the Wrist,' Source Claims

Lori Loughlin is starting to come to terms with the new charge against her, a source tells ET.

A day after Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were charged in a second superseding indictment on conspiring to commit fraud and money laundering, a source tells ET that, up until this point, Loughlin didn't believe she would face the possibility of serving time in prison. Despite fearing the prospect of jail, the source claims Loughlin didn't truly believe it could happen to her.

Loughlin and Giannulli are accused of paying $500,000 in bribes to get their daughters -- Olivia, 19, and Bella, 20 -- admitted to the University of Southern California as recruits for the crew team, even though neither of them participated in the sport.

"Lori still believed in the end she would just get a slap on the wrist," the source says. "At this point she is getting complete clarity and she’s scared and in terrible shape.

IIRC, there is email evidence of the daughter, Olivia, acknowledging that she was aware of what her parents were doing.

She may have been betrayed by her parents, but she knew what was going on.

One rule, one law for everyone. Jail for the celebrity.

If they had gotten a private tutor for their dumbass kids they would have saved a lot of money and no jail time. Obviously the parents also need a private tutor.

Freepers seem to love handing out prison time in general

I’m curious what’s the appropriate sentence according to freeper logic for her crime

Which to me looks like bribing officials at a public university through a third party.....the illustrious Mr Singer

If she facilitated the fake Crew Rowing history background then that’s fraud technically I believe

Are school enrollment applications like bank loan applications where they threaten prison for inaccurate or misleading info?

Been awhile since I filled one out.

I think that was part of Manaforts crimes

Also, not going after the corrupt college officials in this case (and only the parents) is like going after the prostitutes and leaving the Johns alone.

I would say the prostitutes are the college officials, the parents the johns.

But, then again, what do I know about that kind of stuff?

How would one know that a charity is fake?

The safer bet is that the most she’ll ever “serve” is a few token months at a posh resort masquerading as a minimum-security facility. Celebrities are the “beautiful people,” soaring far above the reach of laws that affect us mere common folk.

Why waste the prison space? Throw a couple homeless families on her property and have her serve house arrest.

Prosecutors find that it’s a really significant belt notch to put a well-known celebrity behind bars.

We had one here in Pittsburgh who locked-up a 70-year old Tommy Chong for selling for selling bongs on the internet.

What that actually accomplished in the long run is hard to fathom.

Her mistake was not consulting the Hildebeast, who is the world's foremost expert on charity fraud.

Lori Loughlin and her husband in addition to jail time should face huge fines with that money being used for scholarships for deserving high potential students. Daughters Isabella and Olivia Jade should be tried as co- conspirators... they should have been smart enough to know their college admission was a fraud especially when they likely never took the SAT and were being given athletic admissions.

This is a waste of the court’s time. The US colleges have done worse for years. Send her home to her family.

I wonder how Lori would look in prison orange? I’m thinking about those movies you’d see at Blockbuster (back in the 90’s) about women in prison? You know, the tight shorts and halter tops?

Maybe if they'd filmed it back in the 90's.
