Owned my business for over 40 years. I would like some 'mailbox money'. Just think what I could do with money for nothing.

Will employers begin subtracting $1,000 each month from employees paychecks? And this idiot belives that VATs are paid by the businesses? VAT means at sale not at procuction. The buyer at each stage pays the VAT. Who is the buyer at the last stage...I wonder S//

How do you live on 12 grand a year? The guy’s delusional. The guy’s a Democrat. No surprise.

Actually the total $ for UBI is comparable to total welfare spending.
The one argument in favor: if you’re going to give our vast piles of welfare, make it simple with UBI instead of massive gate keeping bureaucracy.

I too, am a tax donkey for our massive, corrupt government and the Left. I'm getting tired of it.

his proposal to provide every American with a $1,000 guaranteed monthly income

Which would require $1000 of tax increases or borrowing (or, heaven forbid) cuts in other spending) to pay for it.

Are you a businessman if your business is a non-profit? I wonder who funds Yang’s and if it had anything to do with the near trillion dollars a year that Obama had to dole out to his favored people, due to Congress never passing a regular budget, but simply adding a percentage to everything from his first year, including the “stimulus”.

“Universal basic income” is a HUGE disincentive to ever seek a job.

It is nothing more than a scheme to distribute welfare without workfare. It did not work for the Romans, it did not work for the Chinese, for sure it did not work for the Soviet Union, and it won’t work today.

Jobs, employment, grow out of a need to be filled. To simply distribute money with no common goal in mind other than that some people are not absolute paupers already of mind and spirit, does not in any way justify MAKING even more people poor in mind and spirit. Need is everywhere and close at hand, and the filling of these needs is the lubricant that keeps a society running. The filling of those needs, though, cannot be made by a blanket declaration that is applied without discrimination or judicious examination of the cost/benefit ratio, both of which are virtually indivisible parts of a free-market system.

The “discrimination” comes into play when considering the merit of a given individual, and rewarding that merit by applauding that person with cash. A person who is doing something he likes, and in doing so, provides a very desirable service, never has to work a day in his life, because the rewards are so much greater than just a paycheck, which is almost an afterthought.

“$1,000 guaranteed monthly income would help “solve the problems that got Donald Trump elected in 2016.” “

isn’t another way to phrase this is that he wants to buy votes with taxpayer money at $12,000.00 a pop?

Excuse me, Ying Yang, who will pay for this crazy idea? I know I’m a teen, who knows more on economics than the economics graduate bartender, but it won’t work. You’ll see us with a few new bills - the 500 thousand bill with Obama on it, the 1 million bill with Hillary on it, the 1 trillion bill with Bernie Sanders on it and the 500 trillion bill with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on it.

Ideally, you would get the government cheque, and then work to top it up. Compared to increasing minimum wage to a “living wage”, it's not a bad idea. Minimum wages could stay low enough to discourage offshoring, or automation, and total incomes would equal or exceed the ‘living wage’. High minimum wages, alone, won't work without permanent tariff protection. Even tariffs won't protect against automation.

Good News: You will now receive $1,000. a month. Bad News: You owe $1,400 a month taxes on your free income.
