SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WEEK) — Gov. J.B. Pritzker has ordered the state’s Medicaid program to begin covering the costs of sex reassignment surgeries for transgender people. The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services will develop administrative rules to offer coverage to people diagnosed with gender dysphoria to pay for genital and breast-related surgeries.
“Healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and I’m committed to ensuring our LGBTQ community and all Illinoisans have access to that right,” said Pritzker. “Expanding Medicaid to cover gender affirming surgeries is cost effective, helps avoid long term health consequences, and most importantly is the right thing to do. With continued attacks coming from Washington, this administration will always stand with our transgender community and their right to lead safe and healthy lives.”
The rule is likely to go into effect this summer.

Remember the Libs worked VERY hard in the ‘70s and ‘80s to get the nation’s mental hospitals closed down for “humanitarian” reasons.

Up to 20 years ago, insurance didn’t even cover reconstructive surgery for real women who had breast cancer.
And today, it still doesn’t cover cosmetic surgery for women who never had cancer (as it shouldn’t).
But now it’s going to cover implants for men who think they want to be women?!
How and the heck do you reverse it?
When they whack off your thingy, it’s gone man.
I mean it’s really gone.
Does Medicaid cover head transplants too?
It’ll just flush the revenue pool of money faster. You can anticipate with the reassignment business...more mental health funding will be required for the guy or gal who wasn’t happy with the surgery and still hasn’t reached their desired utopia in life.

Guess they have to go somewhere Military going to stop doing them, why not Illionois, Chicago got a wonder new Mayor and worked out good for Smolett in that State.

Outside of the fact that Healthcare is not a Right, this is ludicrous.
It is mandating that Medicaid start paying for Elective Surgery which includes Boob Jobs on Mentally Ill Men and Breast Reductions on Mentally Ill Women.
Cosmetic Surgeons accepting Medicaid Patients. Never thought I would see the day.
This should be mandatory for all liberals. That way they will not pass on those screwed up genes.
Most Medicaid money comes from FEDs. Shouldn’t FEDs have a say in this. Same with California giving Medicaid to illegals. FED is paying most of the freight. The cost of California illegals is simply spread onto the other states.

Nothing like changing your gender when you reach 65 years old. The ugly factor still stands ugly man very ugly women and visa versa. For what purpose other than mental illness! Federal funding needs to be stopped when it comes to outrageous idiotic decisions like this
It’s nice to know that Medicaid is fully funded, all the service delivery problems have been corrected and now our overlords can engage in massaging peoples idiosyncrasies. Very comforting.

One of my 2 best friends in the world lives in the Chicago “burbs” — they (the family) are getting out of IL as soon as practical, maybe sooner, the way things are going in IL.
