President Donald Trump said Friday that there was no need for a summit with the Presidents of Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador because "they understand" the implications of his recent move to cut stabilizing aid to the Central American countries.
Trump's dismissal of a summit comes in light of a recent uptick in Mexico's apprehensions of migrants at its southern border, shared with Central America. It remains unclear whether the increase was spurred by Trump's threat to shut down the US-Mexico border if Mexico didn't stop migrants from illegally crossing the US border or simply from greater immigration traffic.

The US would just have to pick up the dinner tab.
We always do...
The term for the president’s stand is “non negotiable”
The countries must conform to the President’s demand now or suffer. There is to be no negotiation. There is to be no running out the clock attempt.
And that is exactly what it would be. A shakedown. In public. Where they’d try to squeeze millions from him, promising that...
This time, they’ll do something about it.
Only to steal their fair share, resign and move to South Florida, Costa Rica or the DR.
They watched N.K. get away with it for decades, this is their attempt to imitate the success that their Great Leaders had over us.
Not with nuclear weapons, but with a vast exodus of humanity as their threat.
Countries to the south are rapidly descending into "Africa status". And that seems to be the goal.
Typical CNN. WHICH experts? What are their names? When did they say this? What are their credentials?
It's easy to say 'experts said.' Not as easy if you want to back up the claims.
Trump is the first President in my life time that is actually listening to the people on the border.
I had hopes that GW Bush would listen to them since he had been the Governor of Texas and lived 6 hours from the border. No such luck.
Trump is listening to the border sheriff’s and the border patrol rank and file folks and is following their advice.
Ding, ding, ding - we have a thread winnah!
Summit means you’ll give them something ,OK give them the FINGER
Trump needs to cut off ALL aid to these countries. Make them stop the invasion.
And build the wall with that money.
Screw them.
.... great post.
I know how...... begin killing them
If they die, they will stop coming.
The US Constitution requires a treaty to be approved by the 2/3rds of the Senate, otherwise, a president’s signature is just ink on paper and nothing more.
The reason for this purposely high bar is, once approved and signed, the treaty becomes the law of the land, and MUST be followed.
While we’re at this goal of preventing corruption in foreign lands, can we also do so here?
I’ve yet to see someone elected to congress who does not increase their net value to millions of dollars within a term; an amazing outcome for a job which pays far below that.
We should not pay our politicians either.
Any foreign aid we give those countries needs to be designed so it does not line the pockets of corrupt politicians.
Ding, ding, ding - we have a thread winnah!
Yup. That's exactly what he's doing.
“Trump already said what he wanted to say, no reason to go and listen to these countries whine. “
plus Trump knows the HUGE disadvantage in trying to negotiate with multiple parties simultaneously, especially when the main party is a Goliath and all the other parties are Lilliputians, yet everyone at the table is treated with equal stature and given an equal voice and vote ... besides, he’s already warned all of them multiple times without results, so simply time to take action ...
Looked back through your posting history...Are just a “Never Trumper” or do you just come over from DU every now and then just for kicks???
Are you paid by the drug cartel to post this Never Trump BS, or by those who want illegals here?
IRS should look at all the Never Trumpster posters on the internet to see if they are declaring their Never Trumpster income from their posts.
Memo to Mexican, Central American presidents reads.
