When does poisoning yourself become a criminal act? When a lapse of reason or a lapse of responsibility occurs and a person who is intoxicated, kills, maims, or destroys somebody else’s freedom to pursue their happiness through intentional, or unintentional (but nevertheless occurring) circumstances. A punishment is in order.

Agree 100% - whatever the substance. Do we also agree that if nobody else’s freedom to pursue their happiness is maimed, no punishment is in order for the possession, use, or sale?

My first attempt at College was in pursuit of a botany degree which was later changed to electrical engineering out of necessity for healthy paychecks. So from a botanist standpoint, I would like to see the drug trade in marijuana discontinued (yeah right...), and if people wished they could purchase a packet of seeds at Walmart and garden their own.

Maybe we ought to do the same with alcohol. For your own gardening pleasure or your own Brewing pleasure but the minute you start selling it and distribute it you are breaking the law.

Like that’s ever going to happen...
