The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the largest U.S. business lobbying group, has been in contact with the White House to discuss the "very negative economic consequences that would occur across the country," said Neil Bradley, the group's top lobbyist, on a call with reporters.

That is exactly what would happen and the only thing that will bring the open border cabal to the table.

Never though Trump would be such wimp. May as we have had Cruz or Jeb. They would have been up front betrayers of sovereignty

There are alternate shipping methods other
than ground or rail transport. Mexico has
41 sea ports, and 51 commercial airports.

I doubt he steps back. He dan shut it for 24 hours, open it 24 and shut it again.
Or just restrict it to very intense security, like Honolulu TSA grade.

Sometimes it might work because the laws are not well-known, not respected, or nobody notices. But not with Trump as president. His every breath is under a microscope.

Well, this country is about done. I realize that he cannot do it alone.

I also realize that the President and his kids are sitting on more money than they can spend in a lifetimes, so they can insulate themselves from these savages for as long as they want.

The rest of us, not so much. I’d love to be in a position where I could walk into the Oval Office and tell him to his face that, while I wholeheartedly supported him the first time around, I’ll hold my nose(if that) the second. If the invasion doesn’t stop, SOON, then it doesn’t matter, anyway. We’re being overrun.

Guess what Mr President? Contrary to Corporate Puppet Kinzinger and Portman say, contrary to what Donohoe says, American’s will survive without avocados and some of that cheap shit made in Mexico. I promise.

That’s the long and short of it. He wants the support of the millions that put him in the Oval Office, send someone to SCOTUS to see if Ginsburg is still alive and/or healthy enough to do her job. Her ability to do her job, being a source of contention for quite some time.

So, maybe, in 2020 the members of the Chamber of Commerce and its cronies can re-elect him.

Fake news! Trump said very clearly he puts security over economics. Don’t believe the propaganda!

I think Mr. Trump has been beaten down to the point where he is giving up and giving in to these people who are not going to allow him to save this country, and it seems he does not have the backbone to use the military as it needs to be used.

So, fake news? Do you think President Trump will follow-through with his threat last week and close this border or portions of it this week?

Something not right is happening and its sad to see it happening since I had placed so much faith in Donald J. Trump to do things differently.

Trump is in the White House, but Congress is filled with enemies and many with R’s next to their names.

I had to shut off the news with all the “We are all gonna die if he closes the border” crap.

They have been wrong the other 7423 times they’ve all said we were going to die. You’d have to be INSANE to think this time we really would die.

Was the CoC upset when GWBush closed the borders in the wake of 9-11-2001?

BORDER SECURITY
The Lessons of Post-9/11 Border Management
Nov 18, 2015 By Christopher Wilson
Shortly after the horrific attacks in Paris, French President François Hollande announced a decision to close his nation’s borders. He said, “We must ensure that no one comes in to commit any act whatsoever, and at the same time make sure that those who have committed these crimes should be arrested if they try to leave the country.”

The response is reminiscent of the U.S. reaction following the attacks of September 11, 2001. The United States did not officially close its borders with Mexico and Canada (in the end, neither did President Hollande), but in the days following the attacks it moved to full inspections of all border crossers, opening every trunk and carefully reviewing all travel documents. With about a half-million people legally entering the United States at the southern border each day, the lines to cross quickly grew from minutes to hours to occasionally more than a day, effectively causing the border to close.

The border was slowly reopened, but it never returned to its pre-9/11 state. The drawbridges of “Fortress America” were up, and it became much more difficult for all traffic, licit and illicit alike, to cross borders into the United States. The security gains from more inspections, more documentation requirements, and better databases were real, but they came with huge costs for those industries and communities that had come to rely on seamless connectivity. (Canada and Mexico are the United States’ top two export markets, and studies suggest that nearly 15 million U.S. jobs depend on trade and investment with its neighbors.) The border was thickened.

“The Wilson Center, chartered by Congress in 1968 as the official memorial to President Woodrow Wilson, is the nation’s key non-partisan policy forum for tackling global issues through independent research and open dialogue to inform actionable ideas for the policy community.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closings_and_cancellations_following_the_September_11_attacks

Many closings and cancellations followed the September 11 attacks, including major landmarks, buildings, restrictions on access to Lower Manhattan, and postponement or cancellation of major sporting and other events. Landmarks were closed primarily because of fears that they may be attacked. At some places, streets leading up to the institutions were also closed. When they reopened, there was heightened security. Many states declared a state of emergency.

If you read the article, it doesn’t actually have any support whatsoever for the claim that Trump is backing off.

President Trump’s campaign promise to not make threats, but instead do things, isn’t happening. He makes a threat, and the dems, traitor Republicans, the Judiciary, the warmongering globalists, plan maneuvers to stop him when he finally gets around to following through.

To be fair to Mr. Trump, he is not ignoring the laws, he applies the laws properly, and then some Obama judge overrules him, turning the law upside down or voids a EO which is consistent with the constitution and laws. Unfortunately, Mr. Trump allows these low level judges to push him around. I wish he had more strength, but then again, I would have thrown in the towel 1-1/2 years ago were I in his position.

That explains most of what is going on. How that little shit Kinzinger gets reelected is beyond me. If the President has done one thing, he has exposed almost all of them for the corrupt, POSs that they are. Imagine where we’d be if he had more support.
