The only FBI agent I’ve ever known was a next door neighbor, 2000-2015.
He was creepy. Talked to our kids when they were out playing in the driveway, but went back to his yard work as soon as my wife or I came outside.
He used to landscape onto my property, and became indignant when told to move his flowerbeds back onto his property. Total weirdo.
The strangest things about him? He hated the Gadsden flag I flew starting on the day of Obama’s inauguration. he asked me about it several times.

My sister had an affair with a married FBI agent that she reconnected with at a high school reunion.
After a year, she broke it off. He was a total creep about it after the breakup - calling her late at night with veiled threats if she told anyone, stopping at her house and work unannounced, etc.
That was a number of years ago but it has bugged me ever since.

My experiences - they do well with forensic document investigating, all the deeply involved pencil pushing stuff. When they get away from that, away from the desk and out into the field they're usually not ready for prime time - day late and a dollar short, fail to follow through competently, fairly inept. The vid of the pencil-pusher trying to scale a gate while it swings open during the hunt for the Boston bombers comes to mind. Experienced street-savvy city cops can run rings around them out on the streets.
