House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, Democrat of Maryland, will be sending a letter to the White House Monday saying the committee has interviewed a whistleblower about concerns with the security clearance process at the White House and that it will begin authorizing subpoenas beginning at the Oversight Committee's business meeting on Tuesday. Read Cummings' letter here:
...The letter says the committee conducted a "detailed, on-the-record interview" with whistleblower Tricia Newbold, an adjudications manager in the Personnel Security Office. She has worked as a career employee for the Executive Office of the President for 18 years under Democratic and Republican administrations. Newbold told the committee that "she and other career officials adjudicated denials of dozens of applications for security clearances that were later overturned," the letter says, and said that she was targeted for retaliation after declining to grant security clearances based on longstanding national security protocols.

So how exactly are they going to reveal FBI background information in a public hearing?
If she followed normal procedure and was retaliated against, congress should investigate THAT.
If she is publicly naming people who she is claiming failed security clearances, or if congress does that, it is a gross violation of privacy, and she should be fired. She has the right to say that she is being mistreated for following guidelines.
Meanwhile, I would be surprised if it wasn’t “normal procedure” for higher-ups to overrule the findings of the general low-level process, because the President in the end has the right to hire anybody, even if partisans in civil positions try to stop it by finding picky little things to complain about.
Oh, I thought about that! I bet it’ll be changed as some point.
Dont you actually have to be reporting something illegal to be a whistleblower?
If I understand correct, the president has the absolute power to give security clearances, or take them away - so what whistle is she actually blowing?

You understand correctly. Which is why they (the anti-Trump media conspirators) are behind this latest strawman whistleblower angle. Just more fake news from the hate Trump main stream media. It wont work.
He could appoint a Czar to run it. Whitaker comes to mind.
Like its her call....
Potus never has to get a background check
Btw, how did obama ever get a black passport as a first term Senator..on such an expedited basis
Enquiring minds
The gruntings of a disgruntled employee.
Brennan voted for a communist and was Obama’s CIA director. This is non sense.
The corrupt racist traitor and demagogue Elijah Cummings gets all concern-trolly. Thanks bitt.
Yep...##### em. Our side plays too nice.
Good idea.
Elijah Cummings is the one whose security clearance should be reviewed.
It was Obama official who relaxed the guidelines for security clearance.

Clintons reduced restrictions on drug use probably because he had used coke
Why would Indonesia delay a black passport to a citizen who had just been elected a U.S. Senator? Oh, you must mean his American passport. Was he ever officially naturalized?
Better hope nothing real comes along, Eli. The last guy who acted as you do was eaten by a wolf.
I do have experience in this field, (Defense Investigative Service, (DIS), security clearances background investigations for DOD contractors, active duty military, DOD vendors, etc.). All denials are subject to appeal, and not necessarily by the subject. The contractor can also appeal because the subject is so critical to the project.
I have been tasked with tracking down additional information for the appeal process on numerous occasions. I have also seen the subject wait for six to twelve months for adjudication of their clearance, during which time they sit in a unclassified facility doing work that is unclassified until the adjudication.
Sounds like the Czar idea has come up regarding the border.
