The tried to shove this under the rug as they were caught. Someone has to fall on their sword if it is investigated at higher level than the City or state, because it a hoax. And the main entry in the hoax was the MAGA that is tied to Trump. If, and I believe this, someone else having a need to embarrass the president is determined to be after the fact, that would be ugly for the liberal efforts as they haven’t got anything on Trump but public assumption. Blow that out of the water and identify a “major player” in the party as part of the efforts of the libs to destroy Trump’s 2020 bid, and a lot of public scrutiny will fall right back on the libs. They have to hide it. But legally, they can’t.
