The dossier that launched several investigations into Donald Trump and his presidential campaign was based, in part, on posts from "random individuals" from a CNN website that allows the public to publish unverified information.
Christopher Steele made the admission in a deposition given in connection with a lawsuit against the dossier. The judge released portions of the deposition this week.
Washington Examiner:
According to deposition transcripts released this week, Steele said last year he used a 2009 report he found on CNN's iReport website and said he wasn't aware that submissions to that site are posted by members of the public and are not checked for accuracy.
A web archive from July 29, 2009 shows that CNN described the site in this manner: "iReport.com is a user-generated site. That means the stories submitted by users are not edited, fact-checked, or screened before they post."

McCain probably made the sockpuppet posts on the CNN site!
“How silly does the FBI look now? “
How about, How unethical does the FBI look now..
20 years....
Pat Buchanan was interviewed about so many of his ideas now becoming front page news (without borders a country is lost....).
They asked him how to go about saving America now and he said it was mostly too late because most of it should have been done 10-20 years ago.
Chilling.

He didnt scam them. He gave them EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANTED ORDERED - made up stories on Trump that he dubbed research.
Suggested edit, the Rats and Swamp authored and specified the lies and directed Steele to them.
Or else it was nod nod wink wink with them.
It’s worse that I thought. Info used for FISA warrant was not only obtained from Russian agents with an agenda, but was pulled from a site provided by CNN for the public to post unverified garbage. How silly does the FBI look now?

Steele knew the site was garbage and the info was garbage. The FBI knew Steele’s info was garbage. The whole point was going thru the motions so the FBI could have a “legal” excuse to spy on the Trump campaign.
I also wonder how much the brain tumor affected his judgment and additionally caused his seemingly obsessive need to get revenge against Donald Trump. A family member had such a tumor and it did cause personality changes.
Excellent point! I hadn't realized that until you pointed it out!
What concerns me is the NEW HEIGHTS they are going to, or new lows really, in teaching transexual garbage etc.
Agreed. They are really going off the deep end, aren't they.
Dick Morris pointed out in several of his videos how — after the election of Margaret Thatcher, back in 1979 — British Labour party went even more left-wing than they had been through most of the '70s; this ensured them years "wandering in the wilderness," so to speak, until they elected Tony Blair in 1997. Eighteen years later!
Also I'm reminded of the story Rush Limbaugh used to tell all the time, about how when he was starting out in the talk-show host business in Sacramento, he found out that certain topics (he mentioned ESP and paranormal stuff) could "make the phone lines light up," with lots of passionate callers wanting get on the air. Only problem was, they were mostly nutcases, and ordinary listeners didn't want to listen to their ranting and raving and personal stories about alien abduction and poltergeists.
In other words, Rush found out that certain topics are no good because they attract callers that drive the vast majority of the audience away; those topics are poison, but some young talk show hosts pursue them because they think getting a lot of callers means you have a lot of listeners. Of course, advertisers pay for listeners, not callers, so those topics are actually toxic.
My hope is that the Democrats are in a sense falling for the same trap. They think that being able to whip up and trigger a lot of rabble-rousers and crazies means they're winning the hearts and minds of a majority of ordinary Americans. I don't think that's the case.
I don't think PDJT thinks so either.
I don’t actually believe he wrote it, he was paid to sign it and sell it.
Since DNC paid 12 million dollars for it, where exactly did the money go? He supposedly was paid $160,000. So where did the other 11.8 million go?
I think this is evidence of money laundering.
Keep in mind that Fusion GPS was also on Russia’s payroll. Actually, Steele was on Russia’s payroll too. Somehow those little factoid’s get missed by the press, even by Fox.
The Obama Justice Dept looks like the ‘MOB” and that makes Obama look like a ‘MOB BOSS’..
So what was behind his hatred of Sarah Palin?
Well..., close...
He was what came out of the backside of a maverick.
(Young calf separated from the herd)
This entire story is a knock-down drag-out competition between “laughable” and “pathetic”.
Fisa judges are the same leftist hacks that rule against the Constitution everyday. Fisa. ourts need to be abolishied.
I've read the dossier expenses were a bit north of $1M. The rest of money spent by the law firm was likely on campaign compliance issues.
I would like to know that, too. Was it the lawyers, or Fusion GPS, or others?
I’m curious to see the actual post that Steele cribbed, and the identity of who posted it (surely the FBI knows rom vetting the dossier). Whose operative was it: Clinton, Obama, CIA, or FBI? Perhaps Judicial Watch will unearth this some day.
But a point to ponder is, did Steele have his opinion of trump and do his level best to sabotage Trump, or did he know the FBI and CIA et al also disliked Trump, and he saw the opportunity and he fulfilled the desire.
Well this is so much better than I thought.... I was guessing Steele just pulled most of the stuff out of his own a@@.....
Wait, a CNN site, it’s all about the same......
