Ideological search-and-destroy missions are worse for America than shock-jock interviews.
Media Matters is at it again. Its diligent efforts to find bad things said by conservatives has paid off. It found years-old recordings of Tucker Carlson saying terrible things to radio shock-jock Bubba the Love Sponge. Twitter, of course, lit up. And yes, the hashtags #BoycottTuckerCarlson and #FireTuckerCarlson are at the moment I write this piece trending items one and two on my Twitter feed.
I dont like what Tucker said, but heres what is far, far worse for our nation and our culture than a pundit saying shocking things to a shock jock: the creation and sustainment of an outrage industry that spends millions of dollars (and countless man-hours) in the quest to destroy the lives and careers of the people it dislikes.
Heres the way it works. If youre a conservative or a Republican who attains any kind of prominence at all, then the hunt is on. Media Matters has its rolling list of allegedly bad or silly things Ive said and written, for example. And the more prominent you are, the more diligent the hunt. People will listen to hundreds of hours of radio shows or podcasts. Theyll watch tapes of cable news until their eyes glaze over. Theyll scan through hundreds of thousands of written words letting the sum total of the persons worldview and body of work wash over them looking for that gotcha moment, the word or phrase that proves the bad man really is bad.

French’s TDS has enabled the professionally perpetually offended loons for the last two years and now that the mob is getting closer, he’s getting worried he could be next.
Guess he finally noticed the water was getting warm.
I don’t criticize anything that Tucker has said. I fight for his right to do so under the rule of law. Also as he pointed out with C.Boyden Gray , former attorney general , Media Matters is being allowed, by the present administration, to blatantly violate the 501C tax laws by politically campaigning, not only in it’s failed attempt to harm Tucker but in it’s overt campaigning for hillery clinton in 2016. Why aren’t they taxed? Why is their tax exemption ( which is a tax subsidy by you) being stopped and violators indicted.? The answer is a gutless administration.
Much ado about nothing, again.
That's right. And all these columns supporting Tucker disqualify themselves when they start with the disclaimer “I dont like what Tucker said . . . “

I thought that the National Review went under.
I like what he said!!
I don't remember any great love by leftists for Howard Stern. It seems more like people who liked and people who hated him came from all across the political spectrum. You may be thinking more of geography or age, rather than ideology. Somebody older and more rural was less likely to enjoy Stern's comedy. I don't recall the social justice warriors of the day having any love or liking for Howard.
He has made me a big fan...and I don’t have any pay tv. He rocked in that video and exposed the big lie...the faux outrage and republican capitulation.
It’s close.
They have to take liberal money to stay afloat and let them flood the comment section with lunacy.
One commenter in particular is an obvious paid troll, most likely from Media sMatters, who most likely paid for the subscription.
Of course, it’s often hard to tell the difference between the Lunatic Liberals and the completely insane #neverTrumpers
The Weekly Standard is gone. National Review lives on.
You like this part? The wimpy PC disclaimer?
I like what he said. I love it and laugh at his humor. I love it!!
I’m asking about the author, not Tucker. Never mind.
When is the Jew hater resigning from Congress?
