The Real Russian Collusion: Fomenting EU, U.S. Climate Protests
The Heartland Institute ^ | 8 March 2019 | H. Sterling Burnett

Russia is trying to influence the policies of foreign governments again, although this time the target is Europe, not the United States.

In the aftermath of Donald Trump’s election as president of the United States, the lamestream media has been awash in stories of Russian attempts to influence the U.S. elections. Although it seems clear Russia tried to influence U.S. voters via fake accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms, there is little if any evidence Russia’s efforts had any impact on the U.S. election.

The 2016 elections were hardly Russia’s first attempt to influence U.S. politics. It has been happening since the beginning of the Cold War. Anyone remember the Cuban missile crisis?

Most recently, while Barack Obama was president, Russia used social media and funneled money to U.S. environmental groups to hamper domestic efforts to expand oil and gas production in the United States and undermine efforts to expand natural gas exports. This was detailed in numerous reports almost uniformly ignored by the liberal mass media, probably because the U.S. press dislike fossil fuels and would never tell the truth about anything that might benefit Trump’s presidential efforts.

Many of these efforts were detailed in a 2018 House Science Committee report, one portion of which states, “the Kremlin manipulated various groups in an attempt to carry out its geopolitical agenda, particularly with respect to domestic energy policy.”

Since 1917, actually, with increased momentum during the 1930s.

“I assure you that Russia, China and others are behind Antifa, BLM, women’s march, etc.”

If they’re not, it would be a first. It dates back to the ‘peace movement’ and was shown in Russian files after the Soviets collapsed. For any foreign power, our campii are simply RED MEAT for controlling American policy, and it takes very little money.

I am having an argument in another venue about the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The Democrat keeps claiming that the GOP and DNC switched parties after 1964, with the racists going to the GOP.

They cited Strom Thurmond as an example.

When I researched why Strom Thurmond switched from Democrat to Republican, I found him quoted as saying the Democrats have abandoned the people, the US Constitution and are leading the way to a socialist dictatorship.

In other words, Strom Thurmond could see the leading Democrats being coopted by the Soviet Union at the time.

By the way, if you ever end up in this argument about the parties “flipping” just note this:

20 of 21 Democrats in the Senate who voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 remained in the Senate, as Democrats, for 20 years or more.

The ONLY Democrat to switch parties was Strom Thurmond and he did it to oppose socialism, not in support of segregation.....even though he and Goldwater were big segregationists and both voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Al Gore, Sr, John Stennis, Fullbright, Robert Byrd are just some of the prominent Democrats who opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and continued on in their political careers as Democrats.
