Dershowitz: House Dems seem to be 'going too far' seeking dirt on Trump
Fox News ^ | March 5 2019 | Victor Garcia

On the heels of an expanded investigation brought by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., famed attorney Alan Dershowitz warned Tuesday that House Democrats may have gone “too far” and could face lawsuits for allegedly abusing their oversight powers.

“Congress has a legitimate oversight function to perform but it has to make sure it doesn’t go too far. It can’t use that oversight function, which is really designed to help get legislation, in order to really prevent a president from finishing out his terms and acting. They’re interfering with the executive branch if they do so,” Dershowitz said on “Hannity.”

“A balance has to be struck between the legitimate function of Congress to investigate,” Dershowitz said. “The framers didn’t intend for Congress to become another prosecutorial branch, yet another investigative branch, they’re supposed to pass laws. So it seems to me these investigations look like they’re going too far.”

Going too far?

Not by USSR standards.

Dersh is right. 90% of legislators are lawyers and they think their job is to be prosecutors.

Kamela Harass is a perfect example. If fact, she and Comrade Cortez are going full-tilt to destroy our law enforcement programs! So the lawyers are trying destroy the law.

Something has to give. I’m glad we have a non-partisan legal authority on our side. It’s great for the country. Few other lawyers are willing to stick their neck out and say what’s right.

Alan Dershowitz is a big Democrat. He knows this is all for show and just a bid distraction. He also knows if this keeps up then the next Democrat President will also be investigated by a Republican congress just the same.

Why wait until there is a dem President? The pubbies hold a majority in the senate. Why not use that majority to launch investigations of dems, or the deep state coup run by the FBI and DOJ, starting today? And the answer: Because the dems and pubbies are both are on the same team.

You touched on a VERY important point here. This will cause another pillar of the United States to fall!

Democrats in Congress haven't accepted Trump's win - or the right of the American people to elect their own President. That's what this overreach is about... Democrat's thugs in the intelligence bureaucracy told them Hillary could be President because she would give them more money for their useless thuggy fiefdoms..

True, but I think it's worse than the spooks and friends making money. The US public saw photos of Soviet missile sites in Cuba in the 60s and heard radio traffic that proved that USSR commanded the pilot to shoot down KAL 007 in the 80s. What do we get today ? A seemingly phony "assessment" that Russia "meddled" (whatever that means) in the 2016 election. That's just one example of their brazen dishonesty and lawlessness.

That's so cute. You think theRepublicans would actually fight back for once? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

You're also assuming that the GOP would ever be allowed a majority in either house ever again. Once the Dems get all 3, after massive amounts of fraud and illegals voting, the Republicans will never get close to power ever again. The Left is at their endgame. There is no coming back from this point, and there is no stopping their overreach anymore. That's why they keep appearing to be more and more unglued.

You're right - there was a time they protected the country... the 'doolittle afterglow' of decency and strength... Long gone now.

I would guess that there are some good people in the NSA and CIA, but at the top we seem to have a problem. If Dan Coats is a true American, one would think he would explain the 2017 “assessment” and what it was based on. I keep thinking that he is being blackmailed, but maybe he simply never thought that deeply about what looks like a coup to me.

Almost all the people working for Bernie Madeoff (fraudster, and convicted felon, who is currently serving a federal prison sentence for offenses related to a massive Ponzi scheme. Wikipedia) were 'good people'. Even his sons didn't know he was a crook.

So if the CIA and FBI and most people in the Intelligence Bureaucracy are 'good people' it doesn't make a bit of difference IF they're not making the decisions.

The 'good people' argument that's put out by the gullible press and the bad people in intelligence is a smoke screen.

Yes, it’s the actions of these entities that count. It would take a lot of whistleblowers (and protectors of whistleblowers within the agencies) to make a difference. But look what happened to Bill Binney.

Bill Binney was one of the ‘good guys’ who alerted all of us... what ‘happened’ to him?

He’s still one of the good guys...

Binney, an nsa star for many years, was fired and threatened with much worse. Some of his fellow nsa whistleblowers are still being threatened with "national security" charges. By means of purging decent people from the nsa, Hayden and company got a huge boondoggle and freedom to violate the 4th amendment without opposition.

Binney says his "thin thread" system would have warned of the 9/11 attacks. Apparently some of the nsa execs thought 9/11 was a good thing because it made nsa richer and more powerful.

How the Pentagon punished NSA whistleblowers

Right on both counts... I don't know how we get back to 'rational'... What a mess.
