At a moment when the country has never seemed angrier, two political commentators from opposite sides of the divide concurred last week on one point, nearly unthinkable until recently: The country is on the verge of "civil war."
First came former U.S. attorney Joseph diGenova, a Fox News regular and ally of President Trump. "We are in a civil war," he said. "The suggestion that there's ever going to be civil discourse in this country for the foreseeable future is over. . . . It's going to be total war."
The next day, Nicolle Wallace, a former Republican operative turned MSNBC commentator and Trump critic, played a clip of diGenova's commentary on her show and agreed with him - although she placed the blame squarely on the president.
Trump, she said, "greenlit a war in this country around race. And if you think about the most dangerous thing he's done, that might be it."
With the report by special counsel Robert Mueller reportedly nearly complete, impeachment talk in the air and the 2020 presidential election ramping up, fears that once existed only in fiction or the fevered dreams of conspiracy theorists have become a regular part of the political debate. These days, there's talk of violence, mayhem and, increasingly, civil war.
A tumultuous couple of weeks in American politics seem to have raised the rhetorical flourishes to a new level and also brought a troubling question to the surface: At what point does all the alarmist talk of civil war actually increase the prospect of violence, riots or domestic terrorism?
Speaking to conservative pundit Laura Ingraham, diGenova summed up his best advice to friends: "I vote, and I buy guns. And that's what you should do."

“However, there will be no distinct battle lines so the entire US will have to be put under martial law.”
Government will TRY to deceive people into believing they are impartial and not taking a side. Because it will be a cultural/race war, not a civil war in the classic sense.
And it will be a covert war with most of the action occurring under cover of night. Folks smiling at each other in the WalMart, then burning homes at night. Snipers everywhere. Car bombs. Great toxic contaminations. Gated/walled and guarded complexes for government.
And nobody safe.
Anywhere.
You’re describing 1858 Kansas!

Not everybody may be so disciplined.
All the loose talk and bravado isn't that disciplined either.
Talk about civil war like it's expected, unavoidable, necessary, or winnable and sooner or later somebody somewhere will take it to heart.
Strange how no one ever talked of a second Civil War after 0bama declared war on cops, which set the stage for a huge upsurge in the number of cops being killed. I guess Wallace must have missed that.
Fixed it for ya.
Hang the media first.
The left can only get more attention and support through strife
Im not real strife mind you just made up nonsense
I think it just pays to ignore them

IMO, the Dems will try to steal the 2020 Presidential election using the Electoral College State Compact where the blue states give their electors to the popular vote winner. That could very well start the shooting.
...and they think women are strong as men warriors...
Those that yearn for a hot war I have this to say:
Be careful what you ask for.
In short, the US will become like South Africa.

“If the Progressives start ignoring the Supreme Court and/or packing the Court. It could ignite fireworks. “
There is only a few circumstances I can see igniting a confrontation. The most likely one goes like this...
A lot of counties are becoming 2A sanctuary counties, especially in states dominated by urban areas. Some of those counties simply won’t assist state or federal LEO enforcing laws, like red flags, that they disagree with.
A few may go further into affirmative action to prevent the enforcement of those laws. Eventually there will be a confrontation between sheriff’s deputies in one of these counties and federal law enforcement, and a bunch of Sherriff’s deputies will end up dead.
When THAT happens, the calculus will move rapidly. When your neighbors and friends you grew up with who are also your peace officers are murdered by a bunch of jack boots from one of the urban areas or a bunch of jumped up federales, sh*t is going to sideways in a hurry.
It’s one thing to hear a media talking head talk about a civil war. It’s quite another when it comes into your home and touches your life in a way you can’t ignore.
It really depends on the strength of the enemy, right?
It always does in such wars.
Some are over quickly. Some drag on for years, even decades.
“against innocent unarmed civilians.”
Oh no, I believe they will use them against anyone and everyone.
They are crazy. Utterly psychotic.
” On the other hand, supposedly for many civil wars relatively small minorities were involved, so who knows.”
The American Revolution only had a small percentage of enthusiastic support among most people.
You say that the ones who really care are small in number, and that is true. People who DON’T care never change anything. People who do care do and can.
It’s not entirely about numbers.
The left has a core that is way more capable and ready than many give them credit for. I see them at the gun store and range on a regular basis. They try to hide it but a few friendly conversations will out them. More than a few are former military.
