When #MeToo comes for a man you love

It’s easy to be an advocate when it’s someone else being accused. But what Borders, Dunham and Avenatti found is that it gets much tougher when the alleged perpetrator is someone you care about. The instinct to defend the people they like, and casually destroy those they don’t, is one outspoken advocates like these three should curb.

It’s why we have due process in the first place. We aren’t supposed to automatically believe or disbelieve someone, precisely because our own personal biases can get in the way. When the alleged victim is someone we like, we are more apt to believe them. When the accused is someone close to us, it gets much easier to believe that the alleged victim is lying.

We are at a time when the mere whiff of an accusation can destroy someone’s career. Comedian Aziz Ansari, who was mostly accused of being bad at hooking up, still hasn’t recovered from the nothingburger accusation leveled against him. The plea to be more careful and to let the process play out is not anti-woman.

It’s pro-justice.

A few days ago, Lisa Borders, the CEO of Time’s Up, a group affiliated with the #MeToo movement to fight for victims of sexual harassment and abuse, resigned from her position. The reason was startling. Her son, Garry “Dijon” Bowden Jr., had been accused of groping a woman during a “healing session” in Santa Monica.

So you are supposed to abandon someone you love just because some stranger comes up with a wild tale? While sometimes I am inclined to believe that the male members of the human species’ default mode is insensitive clod, I am very disinclined to believe that most men are sexual psychopaths. Ladies, if someone accuses your husband, father, son, brother, etc., of criminal misbehavior remember we believe in the constitution and the presumption of innocence, and remember now is the time your menfolk need you the most. Remember too, there can be all sorts of motivations for women to lie. A woman who lies about these things is the predator. My thought is this, if the accusation is not made at the time when it can be proven an assault happened, then it is not an assault, it is consensual. (Of course, it goes without saying, a young child needs to be treated differently — but still there needs to be tangible evidence that something actually happened, and there is not a hidden motive such as being given a poor grade on an exam, she is in trouble with the law, or mom is out for revenge.)

Women lie all the time. There is one reason that zero tolerance has become the norm and that is that Donald Trump is President and that stupid Bush guy released a recording. That started the misogyny and sexist accusations as means to possibly hound him out of office by forcing him to resign. Quite a few liberals have been sacrificed to keep the movement going so that eventually they still might get Trump to quit. The chance to stop a senate candidate or two and maybe a supreme court justice have helped keep it alive.

Rest assured that had Hillary won, the standard of innocence would be in full force because of the imperfect Bill.

Lisa Borders is very late to the cause of due process of law. On Brett Kavanaugh:

Borders, in her opening remarks, zeroed in on the Kavanaugh hearings as an important cultural moment. “We have only to look back at the hearings last week with Judge Kavanaugh to recognize that the world is not in a great place for women,” she said.

Lisa, honey, your son is being fried in the same pan you put on the stove and heated up.

In other words, ‘we created this monster hoping it will kill Conservatives but it turned on us so now we have to kill it’

Before God was taken out of public schools, everyone knew gossip is a sin and only brings trouble.

#MeToo is all gossip.

During the Kavanaugh hearings I pointed this out to a liberal female friend of mine, that any woman can now claim her husband and son did some heinous act and regardless of the flimsiness of the accusation and facts and regardless of how much she or I defended them, the woman must be believed.

I got her to admit that woman as well as men lie all the time about sexual acts and other things and still I could not get her to see the danger she and other feminists were placing their brothers, fathers, husbands and sons in with this kind of blind adherence to feminist ideology. I finally told her you can’t see the forest for the trees and she would rue the day she threw her male family members under the bus for political expediency.

"Time’s up on sexual harassment. Good. It should be up on instant stampedes to judgment and trial-by-media, too."

Both are still going to be with us for a while.
