Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) responded Tuesday to criticism from Ivanka Trump by suggesting Trump's daughter learned about working "for tips & hourly wages ... 2nd-hand."
"As a person who actually worked for tips & hourly wages in my life, instead of having to learn about it 2nd-hand, I can tell you that most people want to be paid enough to live," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, with a link to reports of Ivanka Trump slamming Ocasio-Cortez earlier in the day.
"A living wage isnt a gift, its a right. Workers are often paid far less than the value they create," she continued.

Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) introduced the "Green New Deal" earlier this month. The climate change resolution seeks to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions while also creating millions of jobs. The resolution includes a universal jobs guarantee.

We need live Congressional hearings on this. Is she a thief? Was she denying a woman equal pay? Was it a person of color?
Echoing Marx's discredited labor theory of value.
Its a fact that you might be worth less than you actually believe youre worth. In extreme cases, worthless.
Who are these workers who AOC says are so stupid that they allow themselves to be paid far less than their value?
What business would allow a worker to quit, rather than pay them, if the work that person did was valuable enough?
“A living wage isnt a gift, its a right. Workers are often paid far less than the value they create,” she continued.
If someone is paid far less than the value they create, that is because: 1) if they were paid the actual value they created, no business owner would even think of hiring them; 2) there is a surplus of labor in that particular market. Greater supply vs. demand pushes down prices. Damn, you learn that in the first WEEK in economics class, let alone if you major in it.
To quote the great philosopher, Dr. Bugs Bunny: “What a marroon!”
Yep! She learned the "hard" way, the life of a prostitute is tough...
is she that ignorant that she doesn’t know that Ivanka has been a successful businesswoman for decades?
More like, “Yesterday I was a bartender. Today I’m an investment banker.”
Workers often think they provide more value than they actually provide. A b'tender in a taco bar brings little value to the business because it's a dime a dozen job. A bookkeeper, otoh, adds value to the business because of their skills and knowledge.
Like the trunk of a 1970s Buick.
.... caption please.
America’s Socialist Sweetheart
Just putting in her three cents.
LOL - good one
Guaranteed govt job and is what was asked about, not minimum wage rate or law. Ivanka used the word ‘minimum’ in her reply which has nothing to do with a guaranteed govt job for everyone. Ivanka said a ‘guarantee minimum’ which usually refers to a minimum wage. She also said she didn’t believe most people want to be given something .... they want to work for what they get.
Did she misunderstood what the subject was she was being asked about? Or she decided to move the conversation to that of minimum wages. Neither is likely.
Or ... I think she wanted to speak against a socialist system that guarantees jobs for everyone and possibly against a universal income for those who don’t want to work. I don’t think she was talking about minimum wage laws, and I doubt she spends any time thinking about minimum wages, but has thought a great deal about socialist guaranteed jobs and universal income system. She should have left the word minimum out and been more clear but I doubt she was speaking against existing minimum wages, as the left is trying to claim.
Ivanka owns and runs a couple of businesses. Why don’t YOU, Brainiac?
“A living wage isnt a gift, its a right.”
It isn’t a right, it has to be earned. That’s why they(we) are called WAGE-EARNERS, not WAGE-RIGHTERS.
” Workers are often paid far less than the value they create,”
SO.... she is saying people should be paid based on the value they create ? Isn’t that capitalistic ? Shouldn’t she be paying her staff based on the ‘value’ they create instead of paying them all the same ?
Well, there's plenty of mouth there for her to do that.
Makes you wonder how she transitioned from working as a bartender of a dead end dive bar, to becoming the newest Democrat/Socialist sensation from NY? Someone’s definitely propping her up.
Soros.
