Jean-Claude Juncker: 'I've given up on Brexit'

European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker said today that Brexit is ‘the past’ and that he has ‘Brexit fatigue’.

Speaking to the European Economic and Social Committee the morning after talks with Theresa May, Mr Juncker called Brexit a ‘disaster’, blaming the gridlock in the House of Commons.

He said: “Brexit is deconstruction, it is not construction. Brexit is the past, it is not the future.

“We are trying to deliver our best efforts in order to have this Brexit being organised in a proper, civilised, well-thought-out way.

“But we are not there, because in the British Parliament there is, every time they are voting, a majority against something, there is never a majority in favour of something.”

I’ve given up on the EU. I have EU fatigue. It’s an idea whose time never came. Go back to the Common Market and forget the United States of Europe.

Well, the European Union certainly knows how to handle that problem, just keep voting until they get it right or take the vote away from the people and give it to the legislature.

Junker knows that an industrialized country, right next to the EU, free from regulations that the EU uses to keep unelected Bankers in control, will prosper.

Fracking alone could cause the UK economy to boom, supplying an ever more restrictive Europe.

Did Brexit happen yet? It’s all very tiresome. I would like for this to go away. I’m an autocrat. Somebody called me that and I think it was a compliment.

It certainly sounds like a very powerful title, so that is important. Like an Arch Duke or a Princess.

Jean-Claude Juncker: 'I've given up on Brexit'

Right, because he was all in on it before.

You have to hand it to Europeans like Juncker - they've perfected being insufferable to a fine art.

1) Juncker, from a prominent nazi family.

2) Swears hostility to the family legacy.

3) Insists Europe must be united under German leadership.

4) Angered that England resists his will.

..... sounds familiar

Tell the Yurps to get stuffed. If they want a hard border between Ireland and the UK, they will need to build it and pay for it.

Sigh - nearly every statement in that is not quite correct

  1. Industrialized country - yet only 20% of UK GDP is from manufacturing. Most of its products are imported from abroad and next to EVERY product made in the UK is dependent on supply chains across western europe. Supply chains that will be withdrawn to the larger market
  2. The UK is going to keep most of the regulations - especially considering that it was regularly one of the countries that asked for new regulations and it agreed to every single one of them through its parliament
  3. To keep unelected bankers??? Which bankers? The majority of bankers are in the UK

  4. Fracking alone - only England allows fracking and its facing opposition from the strong greens group.

Britain or rather England could do well enough outside the EU, if it had good leaders, but it doesn't

Prominent Nazi family? hmmm... proof? Junckers is an ass, but his father was a trade unionist who was conscripted into the German army after Luxembourg was occupied -- yes, Jean-Claude is a Luxembourger

He doesn't insist on Europe being united under German leadership - why would a Luxembourger do that?
