Not everything is done for purely political motives. Maybe this isn’t so much a matter of President Trump trying to curry favor with gay proponents, and instead about simple justice: That he is trying to stop the horrors occurring in so many other countries where gay people are persecuted and sometimes put to death.
Whatever your opinions of homosexuality, we should all be able to agree that it shouldn’t be criminalized and it shouldn’t result in a death sentence. President Trump’s new initiative is an honorable and worthy effort to end those barbaric laws.

Amen!
So, we're supposed to tell Islamic countries how to conduct their affairs and impose our morality on them?
Maybe we can start with Afghanistan where we have had such a major foothold for more than 15 years.
Should we force our morality on them and tell them that homosexuality is OK when it is a capital offense?
By the way, since homosexuality is frowned upon so seriously, wouldn't you think they would object to their great longstanding tradition of Bacha Bazis ? How about it, should it be safe legal as well?
Well said
Well put. Homosexuality, as well as the rest of the LGBT alphabet soup, is sinful and immoral, but governments do not exist to enforce morality. Our God granted liberties include the right to be wrong. Governments have no role here.
