So, we're supposed to tell Islamic countries how to conduct their affairs and impose our morality on them?
Maybe we can start with Afghanistan where we have had such a major foothold for more than 15 years.
Should we force our morality on them and tell them that homosexuality is OK when it is a capital offense?
By the way, since homosexuality is frowned upon so seriously, wouldn't you think they would object to their great longstanding tradition of Bacha Bazis ? How about it, should it be safe legal as well?

President Trump will never appease the left. He does not have to pick a fight with the homosexual lobby, but if he becomes their ally he risks losing his core supporters. Many conservatives and Evangelicals will stay home in 2020 if the president pushes this agenda.
Just like we as a nation have the right to control our own borders, other nations have the right to autonomy and to address morality in their cultures and societies. And, quite frankly, if we are going to use economic pressure to influence other cultures, it should be to encourage them to embrace what made America great: religious liberty and the protection of the right to own property and wealth (i.e. no Socialism/Communism/Marxism).

I remember a big gay pride rally on C-Span in the early '90's where they were chanting "Recruit, recruit, recruit." I'm sure they just wanted for people to be more tolerant, not actually to go out and recruit others into the lifestyle. Right? Why heck, I'm wondering if I just might get turned into the mods for homophobia here on FR for being to intolerant of what some of us still call intolerable behavior.

This is sure to make us popular in Africa and the Muslim world. They will see the light and start having gay pride parades. Any other suggestion of cultural imperialism would be condemned. You don’t have to be a bible thumper to oppose homosexuality. It is a very unsanitary kind of behavior. They are making it fashionable in the schools.
Gays may attempt to persuade others to join their lifestyle, and you may attempt to persuade gays to go straight. But most people probably aren't interested in spending time persuading in either direction, and just prefer to adopt a "live and let live" attitude.
Criminalizing homosexuality (much less imposing the death penalty) crosses the line for any free society. Fortunately we have ended that barbarism in the United States, along with many other enlightened nations. Unfortunately there are still too many countries and cultures which remain uncivilized. It's not the job of the United States to act as the policeman of the world, but we can at least speak out against that barbarity and apply what non-military pressures that we can to end it. Kudos to President Trump for doing so.

Is he telegraphing we’re going to stop prosecuting them now? Well, we’re not prosecuting them now, so no.
Will it make our nation look bad if we don’t change our policy domestically? No
Is it an affront to Christianity not to prosecute them now? No. God will be their final judge, just like he will be our final judge. We are not guiltless. We each have sins to confess before God.
So Christianity won’t be harmed. We are not promoting. We just aren’t going to arrest folks or fire them.

Well yes, there is one.
Folks, I don’t approve of homosexuality or the LBGT lifestyle. I do think we need to be reasoned about our policies.
I don’t think promoting those lifestyles in our schools is right. We shouldn’t let them take over the women’s restrooms. We should stop that.
Other than that, I don’t think we’re planning on doing anything against this community, and speaking up for them being treated decently around the world, is no different than what we are doing now ourselves.

It depends on how Trump government defines the so called “criminalisation of homosexuality”. For example, in Russia, promoting homo culture to school kids is against the law. Will Trump government call it as a kind of criminalisation?

yes, it’s a global LGBT campaign launched by Trump (Donald or Ivanka?) government.
Agreed. A professing Christian should not be endorsing inherently unnatural, and therefore sinful, conduct. Further:
1. Protecting the children from predators deserves far higher priority.
2. Let other countries do as they choose: national sovereignty.
