White House senior adviser Stephen Miller on Sunday went after former President George W. Bush's record on immigration, asserting that the rise in illegal crossings during his administration represented an "astonishing betrayal."
"Fox News Sunday" anchor Chris Wallace questioned Miller on President Trump's decision to declare a national emergency to secure funding for a wall along the southern border, noting that illegal crossings were down significantly from the year 2000.
Miller responded by attacking Bush's record on immigration.
"As you know, when George Bush came into office, illegal immigration total doubled from 6 million to 12 million by the time he left office," Miller said. "That represented an astonishing betrayal of the American people. Im not gonna sit here today and tell you that George Bush defended this country on the southern border because he did not."
Trump and his advisers frequently use Bush as a punching bag.

After he won he said this:
I want to remind people that family values do not stop at the Rio Grande River. People are coming to our country to do jobs that Americans wont do, to be able to feed their families. And I think theres a humane way to recognize that, at the same time protect our borders, and at the same way to make sure that we dont disadvantage those who have stood in line for years to become a legal citizen. And Im looking forward to working with people of both parties on the issue.
On the other hand, Trump learned from Bush’s two biggest flaws. Lack of immigration enforcement and bully pulpit. Bush was a honorable man who believed that it was a waste of his time to bicker with media. Turned out to be a big mistake. His 2nd term was basically a lame duck because he allow4d the media to frame the debate.
We understood.
9/11 still happened on Bush’s watch.
Miller you magnificent bastard!
Its why I dont worship Trump. I support him, but around these parts during the Bush admin, Bush was revered. We need to save worship for actual Deities (Deity).
Bush turns out to not have acted in the best interests of his constituents, We the People. He was not a good President at all. Yet all we did around here is suck up to him for most of his admin.
Divide deeds from the leader.

Yes. Congress would have overwhelmingly supported it. And the American people would have overwhelmingly supported it. Yet another golden opportunity fumbled away by the GOP.
Those folks really deserve to go the way of the old American Whig party. And I suspect that they will.
Disagree. Iraq was a scam and too many of our wonderful citizens died in that war. It was not necessary and most ME dictators are a-holes; we dont need to die to rid the world of a-holes because its an impossible task.
My research at the time led me to believe we should go to war in Iraq. But I now see my research sources were all biased. I didnt have a real picture. If I am honest, the lefties against the war were more right than we were, even if for the wrong reasons. (It wasnt blood for oil; it was blood for a globalist oligarchy.)

Awesome. Bush never said a word when the millions of people who voted for him where assaulted by the Obama admin. Now he takes to instagram of all places to take not so subtle swipes at POTUS.
I really liked “Fly Like an Eagle”.
The GOP is about to show the country just how open borders they truly are when they go after overturning Trumps EO declaration. It will not bode well for them in 2020, and will result in calls for a new political party as both current parties do not represent the people period but special interests.
McConnell is trying to throw the Senate to the Dems. As Ryan just did the House. I have no doubt.
I’ll let your fusillade stand, ready to launch my own if they reply.

Another police action without a victory. WW 2 the last war fought to win.
Little known fact. He increased Saudi visa 16-fold after 9/11. And Bush and Obama brought in equal numbers of moslems during their terms. We have approached almost 2 million since 9/11.
As a nurse, I saw how many illegals were in the hospital under Bush. That number decreased under Obama. Bush was the main culprit here and we would have had the same if Jeb was elected President.
The only good thing I can say about W is that he beat The Goron and John Fing Kerry.
.....and, W needs to shut his d@mn mouth and stop criticizing Trump!

John Quincy Adams was right.
“She [America] goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.”
