A top adviser to President Donald Trump indicated Sunday that Trump is prepared to issue the first veto of his term if Congress votes to disapprove of his declaration of a national emergency along the U.S.-Mexico border.
White House senior adviser Stephen Miller told Fox News Sunday that the president is going to protect his national emergency declaration.

Trump declared the emergency Friday in an effort to go around Congress to fund his border wall. It would allow him to move federal dollars earmarked for military construction to the border but is already facing legal and political challenges.

Thanks - that’s more than I could get from reading anything else...and check out WHBates post also after yours.
Thanks Olog-hai.
I don’t think there are 20 Republicans in the Senate who would vote to override. Or 60 or so Republicans who would do the same in the House.
Well Mitch is for the emergency and he holds the cards as to what bills come before the Senate. I don’t see Trump having to use his Veto power over this issue. My worry is the courts doing something stupid.
That this is news boggles the mind.
He just declared the emergency and somehow he’s suddenly going to sign a stupid bill undoing that declaration??
He has no choice, the Senate had 18 day to vote on it. It’s a privilege resolution, there may even be enough Republicans to pass it, but there is not enough votes to override a veto in either chamber.
It’s how the original law is written. It’s congresses way to stop the ED.
