The universal health coverage, planned as part of the Green New Deal, would apparently not cover hip replacements for the elderly or private rooms in hospitals. At least, that is what Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezs senior counsel and policy advisor, Dan Riffle a former marijuana activist, whose Twitter slogan is, Every billionaire a policy failure tweeted Tuesday:
Private rooms, 5th Avenue offices, hip replacements for octogenarians, the public plan will no longer cover them. Cosmetic surgery For the public plan to work, it cant pay for literally everything, which means there will be a market for things it doesnt.
Apparently getting pushback on this, Riffle tried to recant:
I take it back. Well do the hip replacements. Many reconstructive surgeries are ill-advised for folks past a certain age b/c recovery is too difficult, but apparently thats not the case with this particular one. I do policy, not orthopedics.
Good grief. He who doeth policy giveth and he taketh away.
I would also point out that the strict HIPAA privacy requirements make private rooms in hospitals close to a necessity. Otherwise institutions have to install soundproof curtains or room dividers. Riffle isnt a hospital administrator, so he probably doesnt know that, either.
Riffle later deleted both posts. But always remember this maxim: In deleted Tweets, veritas.
D E A T H P A N E L S
No they heal by themselves.
But abortions for slutsters?
So I guess her parents grandparents aunts uncleS would not be getting this service also! RIGHT!
Riffle, you jackass. Get ready for your next job, learn to code.
....octogenarians have guns...
So glad I went to medical school so I could have people like this guy and AOC make health care policy.
Infection control makes private rooms even more necessary
I'm reminded of a friend who passed a few years ago. Democrat for life, union member after all. Combat veteran, serious gun owner. Not open to arguement, the GOP was the rich guys. Had two knee replacements at near 80. One of the replacements was replaced. He'd never believe they'd be denied, he'd paid for them all his life. Any more than he'd believe the government would take his guns. His, they wouldn't. Those knees got him three, maybe four deer seasons, his last. He helped young people learn the shooting sports, his estate went to the Church. The important issue though, what's best for government. If those knee replacements could have been routed to homeless in Seattle, a better use.
I was in the hospital for an extended stay last April. Fortunately, they did not have sound proof curtains. When a nurses aide came in at night and attempted to administer a test which involved poking me with a needle, I realized that the test was intended for my roommate. Giveing the test to me would have done both of us an inservice.
Try getting a joint replacement procedure approved now by any of the Medicare Advantage products. You are lucky to get a brace approved.
And you cant even take pain meds anymore - opioid crisis - so I guess old people should just shut up and suffer
The geezers will be turned into fertilizer, no need for replacement joints
This is what happens when you have a shortage of doctors. Someones got to go without.
There will of course be full payment for octogenarians who are members of Congress.
Stupid son of a bitch. These are the people accusing Trump of taking away old folks healthcare.
We need ads on the idiot box telling it like it is.
Like everything in life, there will be winners and there will be losers.
No hip replacement because they need to save the money for transgender hormone therapy and gender reassignment surgery.
But it WILL cover gender reassignment surgery.
