Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be just the beginning.
Less than eight months after Ms. Ocasio-Cortez stunned the political world by unseating a powerful Democratic congressman, her home state is emerging as an epicenter of House primary challenges in 2020.
Party insurgents are plotting and preparing to battle with the entrenched establishment targeting as many as a half-dozen Congress members in and around New York City over what it means to be a Democrat and a progressive in the age of President Trump.
The coming New York uprising could result in a series of races that lay bare some of the same generational, racial, gender and ideological cleavages expected to define the 2020 presidential primary.
The activist left, in particular, hopes that Ms. Ocasio-Cortezs victory will inspire a brush fire of Democrat-on-Democrat campaigns that will spread from New York across the nation.
Serious primary challengers for House seats have historically been rare, and it is almost unheard of for so many to emerge in one region so early in the election cycle.
Only two Democratic incumbents including Joseph Crowley, the former No. 4 Democrat in the House, who lost to Ms. Ocasio-Cortez were felled nationwide in 2018. But threats now seem to loom for numerous New York incumbents.
In Manhattan, Jerrold Nadler, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, could be challenged, just as a California billionaire pressures him to move to impeach President Trump.
On Long Island, a Democratic National Committee member is making noises about taking on Tom Suozzi. In Brooklyn, a rematch is in the works in what was one of the nations closest primaries in 2018. And in the Bronx and Westchester, some progressives are pushing to unseat Eliot L. Engel, a white congressman who represents a diversifying district

Please stop talking about green new deal, its a shiny object to distract you
GOP and their talk-show flacks are focusing on AOC and green new deal, to distract us from the immigration surrender - or, rather, their collusion with Pelosi to kill the wall and grant an amnesty
Alinsky used the threat of primary challenges to force Democrats to adopt his policies. It worked amazingly well. The reason he didn’t actually mount primary challenges is because they are expensive, and they harm the Democratic candidate, eliminating much of the money he’d otherwise spend defeating a Republican. Alinsky seems rational and reasonable compared to the new breed of socialist challenger. (AOC seems like a child in adult’s clothing.)
Seventy percent of New Yorkers are against the new abortion law. A large percentage of Democrats are center left, as opposed to left-left. (I’ve seen numbers something like 42% center left vs. 30% socialist.)
This may be an opportunity for left leaning Republicans. (A real conservative stands no chance in New York.)
White democrat congressman are about to be purged. The dems are going full tribal and they will pull America down with them.
RE: Seventy percent of New Yorkers are against the new abortion law.
I hope you’re right. But what is the source for this information?
I think the 70% number came from a Dr. Steve Turley video off YouTube.
Here is a survey.
https://lozierinstitute.org/poll-reveals-new-york-abortion-expansion-plan-goes-too-far-for-new-yorkers/
“The poll, conducted by the McLaughlin Group, found that a considerable majority of New Yorkers support more restrictions on abortion, rather than its expansion. Eighty percent of New Yorkers oppose unlimited abortion through the ninth month of pregnancy and 75% oppose changes in the law which would allow someone other than a doctor to perform an abortion.”
This has been brewing in New York for some time.
The Working Families Party was crested there a decade ago to do.....THIS.
I think Cortez is going to keep right on going, and it’s great. She has already made the senior Democrats look like fools by introducing a bill few of them would vote to pass.
She’s going to be the Super-Howard-Dean of the coming campaign. Much of America will be aghast before she leaves the stage.
And the Republicans are doing what to what to cut them off at the pass? Are there any that are even awake in that state anymore?
The GOP is happy and has been happy just picking up the crumbs the rats leave for them,
That seems to be the case.
“Blondes are now telling AOC jokes”
Keep laughing.
Then look how far she’s come since August.
“And the Republicans are doing what”
Waiting for instructions from the “donor community”.
