95% of posters complaining about H1B visa are IT workers. They complain because salaries in IT field have dropped. The fact is the field is over-saturated with computer programmers world wide and the law of supply and demand requires prices to drop.
If artificial restrictions are imposed by the government on salaries of computer programmers, with the World Wide Web it is not difficult to outsource entire IT operations. Otherwise it makes American corporations less competitive.
I am not married to that 100,000 number, that number should be determined by economic factors of supply and demand.
The problem is not importing cheaper 100k computer programmers, the problem is outsourcing of manufacturing, which is #1 wealth creator. We have lost obscene number of manufacturing jobs since the 1980’s. Without wealth creation artificial high wages are a mirage because it will just be more paper dollars with less buying power.
Nope. First of all you should have learned by now in the Age of Trump that there is no such thing as an “American Corporation.” These are multi national corps with exactly zero interest in doing right by this country.
The problem is these are by and large lesser skill IT jobs. There is simply no reason for multi national corporations to import Indians and their families to do low level IT work in the US. None. Sorry. They do it because it is cheaper/easier to outsource the entire hiring process to foreign corporations and these workers are indentured servants due to their visa status.
By “American Corporation” I infer those corporations who operate and have physical presence in United States. A Toyota auto plant in US qualifies. If H1-B workers are working in US, that helps that corporation remain competitive with foreign outfits operating in foreign countries. By having the corporation remain in US employs many more people than H1B workers in United States such as accountants, janitors, building maintenance workers, management people, pays property taxes, federal income taxes, state income taxes.
I must assume the corporations know how to run their business better than you. If you think what they are doing is stupid, you should become their “smarter” competition by starting your own company.
