- Alice Johnson: a non-violent Great Grandmother pardoned after an outpouring of support from figures on the right, and from Kim Kardashian West.
- Joshua Trump: A 6th grader who got the president’s attention in response to news about him being bullied for sharing his last name.
- Matthew Charles: The White House says that his “life is a story of redemption.” He was incarcerated for non-violent drug charges in 1996, only to be freed by mistake in 2016, and re-incarcerated after being fully rehabilitated. Charles was then finally released at the start of this year, due to President Trump’s First Step Act.
- Debra Bissell, Heather Armstrong, and Madison Armstrong: Family members of Gerald and Shannon David, of Reno, NV who were murdered by an illegal immigrant at the start of this year.
- Grace Eline: A 9-year old cancer survivor who is known for supporting charity causes, and supporting other children through their fight with cancer.
- Ashley Evans: A former opioid addict who has succeeded in her path through the road to recovery, being completely sober for over a year.
- Elvin Hernandez: A Special Agent with the Trafficking in Persons Unit of the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations division.
- Roy James: The Plant Manager of the Vicksburg Forest Products lumber facility, whose job was saved due to America First policies implemented by President Trump.
- Timothy Matson: A Pittsburgh Police officer who was shot multiple times by the evil madman who murdered innocent worshipers at the Tree of Life Synagogue last year. He was given the dangerous task of breaching the front door of the facility.
- Judah Samet: A member of the Tree of Life Synagogue, and Holocaust survivor, who was in attendance during the horrific shooting.
- Tom Wibberley: The father of Navy Seaman Craig Wibberley, who was killed during a terrorist attack in 2000 while aboard the U.S.S. Cole. A scholarship fund was created in his honor to award $1,000 each year

The SOTU ‘speech’ was created as a gimmick for newspapers to hype the Wilson era. In 1923, it proceeded on as a radio gimmick for pumping up the Presidency. Over the past decade, we’ve reached the next stage....props as guests.
The whole thing....maybe a decade ago...started to remind me of a WWE-wrestling event. There’s little to get out of this, and you’d be better off going down to the local pub or joining some friends for a bowling game.

“The SOTU requirement was fulfilled by a letter read aloud by clerks in the House and Senate for over 100 years. This kabuki SOTU is an invention for radio/television.”
No doubt. However it is not a nearly century long tradition that gives a platform to the Presidient, a President who happens to champion Americans, why would you want to throw that away in the middle of a coup? It boggles the mind.

Maybe the White House should get rid of all electronics and go back to carrier pigeons! /s

Your archaic historical precedent is unwelcome even though yoy did get to use the kabuki line
You fail to realize that overtime there is change that permits the nation to actually see the President recite the state of the union.

The SOTU is a grand stage for the President. Any President would be foolish to not take advantage of the opportunity to speak to America.

Yes, it’s a denture problem, not drugs. Her dentures came loose, as did her brain.

All the naysayers saying Trump should just write a letter. With the barrage of daily negative media this is where Trump shines. This is a big moment for him

She doesn’t have dentures, not in this day and age with implants and the money she has. I use to drive a taxi in New York city in the cocaine 1980s, pick up the cokeheads from the clubs and I can recognize someone on that stuff from a mile away. They all do the teeth grinding just like her and then the bulging eyes and the strange speech impediments, and getting distracted while speaking. They need to do a drug test on this woman. If Trump wants to get rid of her, demand she does a drug test, I’m betting she’ll make the test tube melt

Starting with President BJC and ending with Obama, all have cocaine in their histories. "It's a hell of a drug".
Why doesn't Trump remind America that the supply of coke will be disrupted with a walland that present-day obstructionism is due to addiction?
Although I believe that legalization of marijuana is a grave error, at least we can assure ourselves that it is a legal product of the US.
