Back in the 80s, almost no costume was out of bounds, including KKK costumes, black face, Nazi, etc... for costume parties. We were "beyond" that kind of concern. Interestingly enough "hooker" type costumes were pretty rare and were considered risque.

I remember in the 80s there was a black singer whose signature was a cowboy buckle with a confederate flag on it.

I had a black girl friend and a confederate flag as a curtain in my kitchen. The only thing she ever said about it was that it needed to be washed because the stove top had made it dirty.

We've gone backwards.

political correctness is killing our culture and restricting our freedoms. It started when sexual harassment laws took over the work force. Only the boss should be prohibited from some actions against subordinates., the rest, women should stand up and deal with informally. They are no better than men but they wanted special protections. Now SH concepts have spread all over the culture like a poison weed.
