Some Dems float idea of primary challenge for Ocasio-Cortez (for disloyalty - not for stupidity)

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has infuriated colleagues by aligning with a progressive outside group that’s threatening to primary entrenched Democrats. Now some of those lawmakers are turning the tables on her and are discussing recruiting a primary challenger to run against the social media sensation.

At least one House Democrat has been privately urging members of the New York delegation to recruit a local politician from the Bronx or Queens to challenge Ocasio-Cortez.

How ridiculous.

Just as not a single Trump voter has any care or interest in the fate of the GOP, the idea that O-C voters give two sh*ts about the existence or future of the Democratic Party is absurd.

I think what worries the ‘insiders’ of the Democratic Party is that AOC is now interviewed on a daily basis, and is probably one of the three most recognized Democrats in America today. You can go and ask 20 college kids, and I would imagine that at least 15 of them can identify who she is. The added frustration is that she might come up by 2024, and run for President (age requirements would be met), and based on free advertising by the news media and social media.....she could out-primary most Democrats.

But who exactly can they find in this area of NY City to push her back? Could they move Chelsea Clinton into the district and have her run against AOC? That’s the only person I can think of who could dislodge at this point in 2020.

AOC & PSOL go well together!

Wikipedia: PSOL is a left-wing to far-left party which is self-described as socialist and democratic...The ideology of the party varies between the left and the extreme left. The programmatic elements found in the party are related to socialism, anti-capitalism, and anti-imperialism. There are Marxist, Trotskyist, eco-socialist, and syndicalist tendencies within the party...
Despite being a left-wing party, PSOL is not commonly associated with a labor or low-income electorate. Instead, PSOL is more associated with the upper-middle class electorate with strong secular or socially progressive beliefs in the brazilians metropolitan zones, especially the cultural and intellectual elite of Rio de Janeiro. PSOL is a party often associated with academics of social sciences in public universities, teachers, artistic class, social movements, people who support taboo affairs in the brazilian society like legalization of abortion, legalization of marijuana, human rights activism and public sector labor unions. PSOL shows strong difficulties to penetrate in sectors of electorate which are poorer or less affluent...

So Democrats want to disenfranchise the New York Democrats who put her in office?

And yet stupid Democrats like She-Jack-Lee had committee seats?

“But who exactly can they find in this area of NY City to push her back? “

The man she primaried out was Joe Crowley. He had been elected ten times before and was polling 29% ahead of AOC. So, he phoned in his campaign and thus lost. I think he could take her out in a campaign even though he is Caucasian in a heavily Hispanic district. (It was a Caucasian district before the Democratic diversity plan kicked in.) I think he could retake the district if he actually worked at it and had the party’s backing.

Another aspect of this is the media will be heavily encouraged by DNC allies not to constantly interview AOC as even they must realize how much damage this airhead is doing to “their” brand.

They created a monster and they will be stuck with her for a long time. She is milking the system like a pro. Maybe Michael Obama could unseat her and move to NY but I doubt even she could do it.

Couldn’t they dig up some fake Latino-like New Yorker...like that SNL character....Chico Escuela (Garett Morris playing some fake Latino ballplayer for the Mets)?

My impression of Joe Crowley is that he was Hillary....figuring you just needed to announce your candidacy, and that was the end of the discussion. To imagine some dimwit bartender could come up and do a serious primary...winning...it ought to be a Hollywood movie.

He's been laying low lately.

By the way, I just read on nbc.com that Anthony Weiner is getting an early release from jail........ so I guess he can run against AOC.

With her toothy grin AOC can ask him how his "tippy top" is doing these days.

The party that whines about “democracy” and making every vote count doesn’t seem to like letting voters choose who they want to represent them or letting their representatives do what the voters want.

AOC might be bright enough to want to avoid Arkancide. The Chelsea gambit would be a clear threat.
