The Democrats stand in lockstep prepared to go down with the ship, while Republicans either betray the principles they claim to promote or get the vapors and start "calling for" whatever the Democrats want.

It is the John McCains, Jeff Flakes, Mitt Romneys and Cory Gardners of the world that live to gain media applause by undermining the party that supposedly represents their values. The closest the Democrats have to anything like that is Joe Manchin, and he only does it when it is safe to do so.
