Reading the article with the pic, it looks like a kukri. Typically, kukri’s are associated with Gurkha, usually in the service of the British Army. So the guy could have been a Gurkha new to the island. (Or he could have been a random Asian preparing for an attack of sudden jihad syndrome.) I’m betting on the latter.

All I remember is Emma Peel, who was, and is, the gold standard, and how incredibly cool Steeds prewar Bentley was. BTW that was STILL a very fast car in the 60s.
