The majority of pro-leftists, probably, don’t know that The King Family, including MLK, are/were registered Republicans.
He was not perfect.
But he did preach non-violence and “content of your character”
Today’s generation has no clue what that means.
He still achieved a level of greatness in spite of his personal peccadilloes. At the very least, he showed great personal courage.
He resistered as a Republican but privately always identified as a Marxist.
His father DID legally change his name to Martin Luther King Sr., merely asking his congregatio to refer to his son as Martin Luther King Jr., a request they honored.
His name, though, remained MIKE KING.
50% of his PhD thesis was plagiarized and he regularly cheated on his wife and used prostitutes, many of whom he beat up.
Was his cause just? Was he hugely charismatic..?
Yes.
He has a more complex legacy, than the media will report on.
"Bless your heart"
When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.
And Happy Frederick Douglass Day too, AFAIC.
“The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism. All people of goodwill viewed with alarm and concern the frenzied wedding at the Cow Palace of the KKK with the radical right.”
Gun Totin’ Republican, 1964
As a kid I recall how MLK was referred to as a radical. But history has proven he wanted change through peaceful means for the betterment of his race. I do not think this guy was a racist, hater of our founding fathers or our form of government. He just hated discrimination, and I cannot blame him for that.
I also believe that racial relations continued to improve up through about the mid 90’s where it leveled off. Then around 2008 relations took a sharp nose dive into the pits of Hell.
Gee, I wonder what happened in 2008?
To this day his FBI file still hasn’t been released. He was a notorious womanizer. At his demonstrations, many commies, left wingers and socialists were in the front lines.
Whose resume is more fake MLK or BHO?
King said nothing that people of goodwill didn't already believe.
Yeah, they don’t mention that he was a Republican, either. Whaddya say to that?
What ever he was, he was charismatic and he said things that hurt the race baiter industry. The left doesn’t like the real MLK any better than they like the real Kennedy. Only blatant rebranding has made them icons of the left.
The message of non-violence and the exhortation for “content of character” belie radicalism. He may have believed in some of the commie stuff (From each according to his ability, to each according to his need which sounds nice until you learn that faceless bureaucrats and elitist leaders decide what you need and what you owe) but true commies have never espoused non-violence.
That's not necessarily socialistic. It could represent a desire to get people back to work.
King was moving with his time. Where he would have gone after the Sixties were over isn't something we'll ever know.
I’d love to see J. Edgar’s REVDOCMLKJR dossier published.
