As each of us gets older, questions about God, purpose and the afterlife become more pronounced. Thats certainly been the case for famed actor Anthony Hopkins.
During an appearance last week at the 11th annual LEAP Conference, Hopkins explained a major turning point in his life a moment when he abandoned his previous embrace of atheism in exchange for a belief in a higher power.

Hopkins is a wonderful actor and seems a sensible man !
Hopkins made a great movie about C. S. Lewis back in 1993 called Shadowlands. Great film.

According to some FReepers he’s going straight to hell.
It was great.
The Oscar-winning star may not be Christian, but he is clearly open to the existence of God, a shift that occurred in 1975 when during an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, a woman asked an introspective question that intrigued Hopkins.
Why dont you just trust in God? the woman asked Hopkins, who noted from that point forward his insatiable craving for alcohol vanished.

A more general definition of God would lead to fewer atheists.
According to the degree of fanaticism around here, Some would damn Jesus to hell for hanging out with Prostitutes.
They are a tough crowd.
Deuteronomy IV:19 & Malachi I:11
So you think definitions are responsible for folks falling for satan’s lies regarding The God?
The thing that proves God’s existence with precise, mathematical, irrefutable precision is the fact that liberals don’t believe in him. They are like a broken compass that is always 180 degrees out of phase. If they don’t believe in God, he has to exist.
I don’t know what Hopkins believes but a wise man would seek the truth instead of just leaving it to chance.
You can worship a banana if you wish. That doesn’t make it God. A wise person seeks the truth instead of being lazy or in denial.
I had a very similar experience a few years ago.
A person seeking after Christ though he or she doesn't understand fully WHAT is being sought will be just as honored by God as if there had been a "sinner's prayer".
Scripture teaches "ask, seek, and ye shall find". That's a promise from God if there ever was one. And Jesus Himself noted that there would be many who did not know they were acting in His name and that He still knew them. Just as there will be many who act in His name and Jesus never knew them.
The way may be narrow but it's not the being on the highway that matters more than the detours. Were it not so, then we would all be eternally lost.
Q: Why do so many senior citizens read The Holy Bible?
A: They are cramming for finals.
This was a nice point and I concur. I would also add that many judge people based on their current state of affairs, but the Lord knows their entire history. I suspect many, many people have been saved as young people in hidden moments of despair and desperation. They soon forget that transaction in the pursuit of worldly living and lulled to sleep by the enemy, but the Lord is in them.
Nicely put.
“Our Father...” A good ol’ Hebrew prayer.
I’ve always said that an atheist is someone who is angry that God didn’t do what they wanted when they wanted, so therefore (in their mind) He doesn’t exist.
“According to some FReepers hes going straight to hell.”
Do you think he will stop for a soda along the way?
Seriously, what does the Bible, aka God’s Word, say? Seems to me the Almighty holds the final cards.
I think his most recent role as the creator in the series "West World", may have set him to thinking about the whole "free will/intelligent design" conundrum.
