Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s office on Friday denied an explosive report by BuzzFeed News that his investigators had gathered evidence showing President Trump directed his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to lie to Congress about a prospective business deal in Moscow.
“BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the special counsel’s office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s congressional testimony are not accurate,” said Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller.
The statement was remarkable on several levels — first, the special counsel’s office speaks exceedingly rarely, and second, the statement seemed to drive a stake through a sensational allegation that Democratic lawmakers suggested earlier in the day could spell the end of the Trump presidency.

Strzok said under oath he’s never been on an Investigation that led to the Indictment of a Democrat. How is it Mueller assembled all these rabid Trump Haters.

If Mueller allowed this fake story to build as Dems were demanding answers so that they could formally start impeachment procedures and Mueller sat on it until he turned in his report with nothing to show for Cohen saying that Trump told him to lie then the Dems and media would be in complete meltdown and letdown! Mueller team have been recently throwing out balloons that people shouldn’t expect much from the report to get them ready. Plus Whitaker probably already went through what Mueller has and told them to knock it down
The Democrats will quietly scotch plans to hear Cohen.
Republicans are going to point out Mueller is on record as saying anything he would say isn’t true.
The Democrats would have to take the word of a serial liar and convicted felon over Mueller.
