A Buzzfeed News report alleges Mr Trump directed Michael Cohen to lie about plans to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.
Cohen has already admitted to lying about when the business project ended.
Mr Trump has not yet responded directly to the report's allegations - but he has previously denied ever directing his former lawyer to break the law.
The intelligence committee of the House of Representatives will investigate the claims, says its new chairman, Adam Schiff.
"The allegation that the President of the United States may have suborned perjury before our committee in an effort to curtail the investigation and cover up his business dealings with Russia is among the most serious to date," Mr Schiff wrote on Twitter.

No, but I’ve noticed a lot of them call themselves “truth seekers”. What they really seek is whatever fits their agenda that they can call the truth, and ignore anything else. If the truth is considered offensive to them, then they’re outright haters of the truth.

The rehashed Russia-Russia-Russia story is being pushed to provide cover to suppress the Ohr story. Because at the heart of the Ohr story is that the British government colluded with the Hillary campaign and the Obama admin to throw the U.S. election.
That’s libelous. He was fathered by space aliens.
And ohhhh....the huge price Mr. Clinton has paid for his crimes./s
The whole story actually tells readers most about why to suspect reports from Buzzfeed - no evidence, and about the rest of the media, that they will “report” what BuzzFeed “reports” without doing their own due diligence.
Cohen, a know liar, convicted of lying, is supposed to be believed now because he’s never lie again to gain favor with justice department officials to lessen a sentence or gain favor.
That the BBC happily reports this is telling...he’s a known liar and is trying to avoid a longer jail sentence, he’ll say anything.

If Michael Cohan gave Muelleur the keys to Trump’s impeachment, why is Cohen going to jail?
I hope schiff, pelosi, waters, et al, get microscopes shoved up their butts so far that their eyes will bulge out. The more the mud slinging, the more they are guilty. Schiff leaked information to the press repeatedly and he will have to answer for that soon.
